"If selling insurance was so easy, wouldn't everyone be doing it?" My dad's words still ring true today. They've guided me through decades in the insurance industry, from my early days as a personal lines Nationwide agent to my current role as EVP of Sales and Marketing for the entire organization. This journey has taught me a profound lesson: Sales isn't just a skill—it's a mindset. It's about resilience, adaptability, and a genuine desire to solve problems for others. The OpenView Sales Blog gets this. Their content on value-based selling? Pure gold. They understand that modern sales is about creating and communicating value, not just pushing products. Their insights have helped countless sales professionals elevate their game. But here's what truly separates good from great sales leaders: 1. They embrace failure as feedback Great sales leaders view each 'no' as a learning opportunity. They analyze, adapt, and improve constantly. 2. They have grit—pushing through when others quit The sales landscape is full of challenges. Top leaders persevere, staying motivated even when faced with rejections or market downturns. 3. They build teams, not just quotas Exceptional sales leaders focus on developing their people. They understand that a strong, collaborative team will naturally hit targets. 4. They're always learning The best sales leaders are perpetual students, constantly updating their skills and knowledge to stay ahead in a rapidly evolving field. 5. They lead with empathy Understanding client needs on a deeper level allows these leaders to create meaningful solutions and lasting relationships. Remember: Sales is a contact sport, but management is a team sport. As leaders, we're not just closing deals—we're nurturing talent, building cultures, and driving organizational success. In my experience, the toughest lesson I've learned is the importance of balance. Balancing short-term goals with long-term vision. Balancing pushing for results with supporting team well-being. It's a constant juggling act, but one that's crucial for sustainable success. What's the toughest lesson you've learned as a sales leader? Let's share war stories and grow together. Your experiences could be the key insight another leader needs to overcome their current challenge. After all, in sales leadership, our greatest asset is our collective wisdom. #SalesSuccess #LeadershipLessons #InsuranceIndustry #TeamBuilding

🌟 𝑰𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒈𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒚: 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑪𝒐𝒓𝒏𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒕𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝑺𝒖𝒄𝒄𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒇𝒖𝒍 𝑺𝒂𝒍𝒆𝒔 🌟 As a sales manager, I've learned that integrity is not just a value—it's a necessity. In an industry driven by numbers and targets, it can be tempting to cut corners. But true success comes from building trust, both with clients and within our teams. Here’s what integrity means to me in the workplace: ➡️ 𝑩𝒖𝒊𝒍𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑻𝒓𝒖𝒔𝒕: When we prioritize honesty, we create lasting relationships with our clients. They know we have their best interests at heart, which leads to loyalty and repeat business. ➡️ 𝑳𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒃𝒚 𝑬𝒙𝒂𝒎𝒑𝒍𝒆: As leaders, our actions set the tone. When we demonstrate integrity, we inspire our teams to do the same, fostering a culture of accountability and respect. ➡️ 𝑳𝒐𝒏𝒈-𝑻𝒆𝒓𝒎 𝑺𝒖𝒄𝒄𝒆𝒔𝒔: Short-term gains may be tempting, but integrity leads to sustainable growth. When we operate transparently, we pave the way for future opportunities. ➡️ 𝑬𝒎𝒑𝒐𝒘𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑶𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒔: Encouraging an environment where team members feel safe to voice their opinions and concerns strengthens our collective integrity. 📢 In the end, integrity is not just about doing the right thing when it’s easy; it’s about making the right choice, even when it’s hard. Let’s commit to upholding our values and leading with integrity every day. 💡What does integrity mean to you in your professional journey? #Integrity #SalesLeadership #Trust #TeamCulture #LongTermSuccess

Still buzzing from a day with the NA team in Boston yesterday New office, great people, and an important topic: Champions. We all (should) know that champions matter. Many claim to be great at spotting them Less claim to be great at building them Even fewer claim to truly have them As with everything - intentionality matters Intentional about the process you follow to identify a potential champion Intentional about the process you follow to validate if you were right Intentional about the strategy to build them to be YOUR champion The different kinds of "deposits" to develop trust and enable your champion and how to sequence them. The ways to unlock the withdrawals you need to strengthen your deal and how to ask for them. As with all of the most critical skills to master in enterprise sales There's always more to learn and apply (even Stephen Gottlieb learned something new - which is saying something) So grateful to be in a position where I can geek out on topics like these with 30+ hungry and humble colleagues who just want to get better Very confident in saying that we got better yesterday and more importantly - laid the groundwork to keep getting better If you know anyone feeling stagnant in their personal development wanting to be surrounded by like-minded A-players always getting better Hit up Stephen or Matt Izquierdo. We've got room for them (or you). Massive thanks to Christopher V., Steve Jenner, Stephen Gottlieb, Jason Hallett, Luke von Schreiber, and Nick Morea for helping pull off such a great day.

"Fostering healthy competition within the sales team is the heartbeat of organizational growth. A secure environment for our crucial sales players isn't just a comfort; it's a prerequisite for reaching unprecedented heights. In the absence of challenges and the safety net, growth may fall short of our aspirations. Striking the right balance is the key to unlocking the full potential of both individuals and the organization. 🌱💼 #SalesSuccess #CompetitionDrivesGrowth #TeamEmpowerment"

Claims surges. An exciting but also stressful time in my profession of claims leadership and change. It’s the time of year when this can happen. Weather drives property claims but growth drives surges across all products. Use these as opportunities to understand your people, your processes and your clients and customers. Map the work. Not just the claims delivery, but how your leadership worked. How your suppliers responded and how you supported them. Did you put in short term processes that hadn’t been tried before - how did they work? Did your changes put in before stand up? Did you communicate externally and internally effectively? Try to invest time in studying how you stood up to the challenge. It’s a great opportunity.

This will tank your business faster than anything else you do!! It’s not bad leads 🚫 It’s not lack of content 🚫 It’s not a bad product 🚫 It’s… Bad team management!!! If you mismanage your team… The team you hired will drain your bank account. It’s not their fault. It’s yours!!💯💯 Make sure you have these 3 things in place so that your team performs like the rockstars they are. 1. Have a set meeting cadence. They should know when they will speak with you next. Time for them to be heard and get feedback 2. Create SOPs for tracking and KPIs A team member with no goals or targets is set up to fail. If they fail.. YOU FAIL! 3. Understand their talents Knowing what drives your team will allow you to… Place them in roles they can win at . And… Give them incentives that actually motivate them. If you miss in these 3… your team be forever subpar. True winners don’t stay where they feel like they’re always losing. Happy Monday!😃 #teambuilding #hiringandfiring #7figurebusuness
