When I’ve expressed genuine appreciation, I’ve noticed how it fosters loyalty and collaboration, creating a culture where everyone feels seen and valued. 2) Empowering Teams is Leadership's Core: I’ve realized leadership isn’t about being the smartest person in the room—it’s about building a room full of capable individuals. 🌿 Effortless in Leadership: Leading with Ease and Authenticity 🌿 For a long time, I thought leadership was about striving, always pushing harder, and carrying every responsibility. But over time, I’ve realized that true leadership doesn’t have to feel heavy. Embracing an effortless approach to leadership has not only made me a better leader, but it’s also created a more supportive, collaborative environment for my team. Here’s what “effortless in leadership” looks like to me: * Trusting the Team: When we let go of the need to micromanage and trust our team members to bring their own strengths to the table, everything flows more smoothly. I’ve seen firsthand how empowering others leads to better outcomes, more innovation, and a more fulfilling work environment. * Focusing on Clarity, Not Control: Clear communication and shared goals create a culture where everyone knows their role and purpose. By focusing on clarity rather than control, I’ve found that projects run more smoothly—and people feel more valued. * Practicing Mindfulness and Presence: Being present with my team, listening fully, and allowing time for open conversation has shown me that leadership can be rooted in mindfulness. **About Alignment vs. Fixing** Recently, a coach shared with me his heavy heart after a Senior Leader he was coaching quit. He felt bad that he did not help. Really? Here’s the context: This Senior Leader had participated in a profiling tool workshop designed for his Leadership Team. Through this, he uncovered a painful truth—his values and strengths were out of sync with the company’s mission and values. HR then requested that the coach work with him. But after just two sessions, the news came: his client had quit. My immediate response? While I understand as coaches we want to help, however we have to respect how people view alignment vs fixing. If this leader saw the alignment process as "fixing," then his departure was not just wise—it was necessary. Alignment is a journey of curiosity and growth, but fixing? Fixing is a path fraught with pain. More often than not, when new Leaders—whether they are new to a country, culture, company, role or reporting team — engage in a values alignment workshop, they emerge feeling enriched and empowered. They experience a boost in Personal and Leadership Effectiveness that spills over into happiness and satisfaction. Alignment is not just beneficial; it is essential. The decision of that senior leader to quit, after recognizing the misalignment between his values and the company serves as a powerful reminder. Fixing what doesn’t align is a painful and ultimately unsustainable endeavor. Choosing alignment leads to a more sustainable, fulfilling work environment—one where motivation and satisfaction can truly thrive. So to my coach friend, I think you are amazing to help the senior leader to get out of the pain he may be suffering in silence. And #Flow is about finding the state where we feel energized, joy and involvement. Who am I? What are my Core Values, strengths and motivations? A flow state requires some forces to push it but these forces should arise naturally due to a deep intrinsic motivation and interest in the activity. Flow is sustainable behaviour to increase our awareness of self.
