𝐃𝐢𝐝 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐰? Elder abuse isn't always perpetrated by family caregivers. In fact, up to 60% of cases involve other family members or outside caregivers who take advantage of an elder’s vulnerability. This abuse can be mental🧠, physical💔, or financial💸, leaving lasting harm on the elder's well-being. Recognizing the signs early, such as unexplained injuries, sudden changes in mood, or irregular financial activity, is key to protecting our seniors. 👵👴 #ElderAbuseAwareness #ProtectOurSeniors #MentalHealthMatters #PhysicalSafety #FinancialAbuse #CaregiverSupport

Children are some of the most vulnerable people in our population. Many lack a voice because they either cannot talk yet or do not know how to put into words what is happening. Others live in fear, daily. Join me Friday in the EMS PRO 1 hall at 10:45 am for a 75-minute session titled, ‘See Something, Say Something – Be the Advocate’. We will talk about the topic most of us do not want to even want to think about. Child abuse! It is around us often and we as prehospital providers have the opportunity to recognize and report this unthinkable action. Even if we are unsure, if we think there is abuse present, REPORT IT! We will review case studies and discuss different assessment tools to recognize abuse. Most importantly, be the advocate for the child who has no voice and cannot advocate for themselves. #EMSandFIREPro
