Thanks to Christopher Fooks and Jackie Morton of the IPW (plus the 149 attendees who joined us this morning) for a discussion around estate planning misconceptions. It was great to see so many faces just before the Easter 🥚🥚🥚 🐰 break. Here is a link to the video I shared which demonstrates the true value of legacy planning - leaving a legacy of joy is surely something to aspire to?? Thanks also to Abby Gardner for organising. I hope you all have a wonderful Easter. https://lnkd.in/eJ7irG7X #estateplanning #legacyplanning #intergenerationalplanning

Small (handbell) ensembles are much more the order of the day after mid-May, at least in the Northern hemisphere. Pretty much everyone in the United States syncs their calendar to the end of the school year, and so family vacations and summer programs ramp up, resulting in a local population decrease as people get out of town. So when this happens, large handbell ensembles also shut down for a couple of months (but not until they've performed their spring concerts!). Despite the temporary exodus, we've found that there are a lot of folks who want to keep the handbell music going during the summer. Most of the time it's to add our special kind of music to their church services and social gatherings. Sometimes it's to take advantage of the opportunity to try something new and challenging or to acquire new skills, such as four-in-hand ringing. Whatever the reason, we have lots of handbell scores suitable for this. Our music for six, eight, twelve, or sixteen bells can be played with two to eight ringers. Many of our "Surprisingly Easy"™ eight-bells scores, in particular, can be learned in just a few rehearsals and are ideal for summer services and events. If you haven't tried small ensemble ringing, this is a great way to start. You only have to find a friend or two to join the fun, and decide on which piece(s) you'd like to play! https://lnkd.in/gCQPsn7T

Spent the weekend playing with Udio, and after making 60 “songs,” have learned a lot and finally published one track. Some thoughts: - The sound quality is better than Suno and it feels like you get more fine-grained control. But Suno seems to make catchier music more easily, and also does longer songs. - Getting good tracks from Udio involves experimenting with things like genre tags, extending songs in either direction, and using custom lyrics both to update vocals and insert directions like [guitar solo]. - You also need patience! Getting good stuff can take a few generations. Think of it like jamming with friends, and riffing off each other. - It’s great for imagining new genres and seeing what they sound like. The attached, for example, blends Louisiana blues and dubstep. - I can see this leading to a lot of musical experimentation. I think there will be some great new songs that come directly out of Udio, but also artists incorporating it into music and video in ways beyond just generating and publishing. Overall, I feel like this will lead to more, not less, musical creativity. https://lnkd.in/gNrQz8TP

In the past, music that contained explicit content often carried a "Parental Advisory" label, indicating that it may not be suitable for all audiences. Alongside these versions, there were also clean versions of the same albums released on CDs. The benefits of having both options include: 1. **Accessibility for All Audiences**: By providing clean versions of music alongside the explicit versions, artists can cater to a wider audience, including those who prefer not to listen to profanity or explicit content. 2. **Parental Control**: Parents can have peace of mind knowing that they have the option to choose the clean version of an album for their children. This allows them to control the content their children are exposed to while still allowing them to enjoy music. 3. **Artist Flexibility**: Offering clean versions of music gives artists the opportunity to reach a broader audience, including those who may not typically listen to music with explicit content. It allows artists to showcase their work to a wider demographic. 4. **Respecting Diverse Preferences**: Not all listeners appreciate or enjoy explicit content in music. Providing clean versions respects the diverse preferences of different listeners and ensures that everyone can enjoy the music in a way that aligns with their values and comfort levels. Having both explicit and clean versions of music available on CDs benefits artists, parents, and listeners by providing options that cater to different preferences and needs. www.lloydcaulker.net

#innovation #international #product #introduction #cluster #happyfounder Robin Saxby walked into a former chicken shed full of ex-Acorn engineers (spun out into a nascent Arm with the ARM1 chip used to launch the Apple Newton handwriting PDA https://lnkd.in/g-rt9sVj) and said "who wants to be less technical?". Jamie Urquhart stood up and became COO. Within months they had Korean and Japanese fabrication plant executives stiffed by Intel Inside idling their plants doing the Monty Python silly walks contest. Robin told the team they must put "an ARM in every pocket". That vision allowed Pete Magowan to recognize a call from unknown Nokia (then principally a Wellington Boot manufacturer, but keen to launch cheap mobile phones for the same Finnish national necessity to populate and patrol a long forest border with Russia) to complain that they would use too much silicon making millions of microchips as an opportunity to write the Thumb compiler to store data more efficiently. Within 3 years the ARM7/Thumb was the basis of most GSM phones, within 10 years the ARM10 was the basis of most smartphones https://lnkd.in/giiyYJdy. While Android crushed Nokia and Ericsson, Arm had always been aimed at an ecosystem of Asian fabs which continues independent of the OEM de jour. Intel licensed ARM10, having failed to crush them despite their very best efforts including acquiring and shutting down their clients where possible. As one ARM founder remarked to me, "F*** Intel Inside, we're inside Intel". Just a reminder to budding tech entrepreneurs, frenemies are commonplace, coopetition is the norm https://g.co/kgs/LVw6Zqc Chances are very strong you're reading this on a device powered by an ARM chip, with data from a server powered by an ARM chip because Arm had the integrity and British fair play ethic to keep everyone inside the tent pissing out. I got access to PhD research Arm through irritating Jamie Urquhart on a train by pointing out that his clamshell Psion was a more expensive form factor to manufacture than my Palm Pilot. Modern smart phones do bear our my position, while I didn't fully appreciate that he'd personally designed the Psion and it actually worked for email unlike my Palm Pilot... Jamie Urquhart encouraged me to help found the volunteer Cambridge University Entrepreneurs by pointing out that every startup was actually a volunteer effort. What enabled Hermann Hauser to understand the impact of a real salesman like Robin Saxby? He says that the experience of Acorn brought a generation of international sales to Cambridge that changed the outcomes for all subsequent startups. Here's Saxby bringing the same energy to motivating the next generation of school kids. Rock on, Robin Saxby
