I love this concept, and just bought the book because I was so compelled by the message. My wife and I really enjoyed "The Bear" series, and I think what I was gripped by was the question of how one turns ingrained habits, ways of thinking and perceiving ourselves, into excellence, and a relentless drive towards that. The series demonstrates how anyone can be incredible with effort and consistency. Will Guidara is talking about how hospitality relates to all disciplines - and the focal point that people remember how we make them feel. This strikes particularly true in my field of EHS / Industrial Safety. We know being a "safety cop" does not get lasting results, so how you demonstrate care while holding to expectations? Will Guidara's answer is this: 1) Be Present. 2) Take ourselves less seriously. 3) Create individualized experiences. Thanks to Management Today for highlighting the internal communication challenges faced by CEOs leading transformation. Thanks, too, for including my thoughts in this insightful piece. To summarise Antonia Garrett Peel's article, the best CEOs recognise the two-way nature of communication. They are authentic. They "show up and show commitment". They "get the message right". Seemingly little things can make a big difference, and when it comes to successful business transformations, building individual relationships with employees can be just as important as bravery and innovation.
