The rule clarifies existing standards for livestock care and introduces new requirements, particularly for avian species. Key OLPS Updates: - Livestock Living Conditions: Clearer requirements for indoor and outdoor access, promoting natural behaviors. - Avian Species: New welfare standards for birds, ensuring adequate space and outdoor access. - Consistency in Enforcement: Clear guidelines for transportation, handling, and harvesting, ensuring all producers meet the same high standards. The OLPS Final Rule, effective January 2025, promotes transparency and creates a fair marketplace for organic producers. At Where Food Comes From, we’re here to help you navigate these changes and ensure your operations meet the updated organic certification requirements. The new Organic Livestock and Poultry Standards (OLPS) Final Rule Core Course is now available in the learning center. The course helps organic certifiers, inspectors, and producers apply the changes to the USDA organic regulations from the OLPS final rule before the rule goes into effect in January 2025, helping to promote transparency and consistency in implementation. A new microlearning, NOP Certification and Accreditation Costs, is also available in the learning center! Learn more about the new trainings in the Organic Insider. https://lnkd.in/eZtDFCbh

Looking to boost management of your maiden ewes? Check out our latest case study video from the 'Magnificent Maidens' project, funded by Meat & Livestock Australia. In this video, Edward Blackwell from Dunkeld, Victoria, discusses the management and performance of his maiden ewes and shares the benefits of being a Producer Demonstration Site for the project. As a result of being involved in the project as a Producer Demonstration Site, Edward has seen improved management of maiden ewes starting from lambing and ensuring their growth throughout their first year. The next step is to continue refining management practices and leveraging data-driven insights to optimise ewe performance. Based on the management changes that have been made already, Edward can see the potential for increased profitability and productivity by focusing on filling feed gaps earlier in the year to promote better conception rates and overall ewe health. Keep an eye out for another case study from the 'Magnificent Maidens' project coming next week! #MeatAndLivestockAustralia #MLA #MagnificentMaidens #FarmingTips #BetterEweManagement
