What sets apart good communication from great communication? 👂 Active Listening: It's not just hearing words; truly listen to understand, not just to respond. Be Clear and concise to avoid ambiguity by articulating your thoughts clearly and keeps everyone on the same page. 📝 Constructive Feedback: Instead of criticism, provide feedback that is specific, actionable, and aimed at improvement. Remember, it's not about pointing out flaws but about fostering growth. 🤝 Stay Positive: Maintain a positive tone during the discussion. Positivity encourages open dialogue and problem-solving. Effective communication is a two-way street. Remember, regardless of your position, listening is essential. True leadership involves not just speaking, but also understanding, valuing, and incorporating the perspectives of others. 🌱 📢For the job seekers out there, I hear you! Currently, Cartrack is also hiring for BD & Telemarketer roles. Don't miss out on this opportunity to join a dynamic team where your communication skills are valued. When hiring, ALWAYS provide a task. The task is what filters out people who CAN do a job from those that can't. The task is always related to what they are going to do at our company. For our SDR (sales) role, we provide applicants with a task, which is precisely what they'd be doing at Team-GPT: 𝘏𝘦𝘺! 𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘬 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘭𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘛𝘦𝘢𝘮-𝘎𝘗𝘛, 𝘸𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘵! As a business founder, building a strong sales team is critical. Recently, while reviewing applications for a sales rep, a surprising trend emerged: a significant number of resumes came with just "Dear [Name], kindly find attached" in the email body. Now, here's the deal, applicants are essentially selling themselves. An empty email body is the equivalent of a weak sales pitch – it doesn't showcase the skills or initiative we're looking for. Since we are looking to create a professional environment, here's a tip for aspiring Sales Reps: Personalize your application! Take a moment to write a brief email highlighting a relevant skill or experience. Demonstrate your communication skills. Why are you interested in our company? What excites you about the role? Show initiative. Research our company and services. Briefly mention something specific that caught your eye. A little effort goes a long way. It shows you're serious about the opportunity and sets you apart from the generic crowd. #recruitingtips #saleshiring #founderproblems #sales #tips #coaching #consultant #trainingconsultant #learningspecialist #application #cv

The #1 myth when hiring for a sales position is that the “best salesperson” on paper, with the most impressive resume or record, will automatically excel in your company’s specific sales role. While experience and past performance can be indicators of skill, they don’t always translate into success in every sales environment. Sales roles vary widely; some require intense outbound cold-calling, others involve warm inbound leads or customer relationship management. A top salesperson from a high-touch consultative sales environment may not excel in a fast-paced, transactional sales role, and vice versa. When hiring for sales, we have to consider the personality traits, adaptability, and skills that align with the specific role and company culture. For example, an ideal candidate might be someone comfortable in a work-from-home environment, resilient to rejection, and skilled at asking questions or thinking outside the box.

If you’re hiring an SDR/ BD Executive, you can borrow these questions. The Wise Idiot is looking for a salesperson. In an interview last week, I asked them some of these to assess them on multiple fronts: ➡️ Testing their homework: What do you know about us and our competitors? Why do you think we exist? Why should people pay us money? Do you feel we are doing something right? ➡️ Testing their industry knowledge: What are the problems that our clients normally face? Have you worked with marketing teams/agencies earlier? ➡️ Testing their temperament: How important is lying in the marketing/sales process? What’s been your biggest close? Tell me that story. Has a client ever abused you/ been rude to you? Tell me that story. What do you hate? What are you afraid of? ➡️ Testing their clarity: What’s your expected remuneration? How confident are you in your sales abilities? If very confident, why not accept full compensation as variable instead of sticking to a fixed salary? (Trick question) PS: In case you're looking for a similar role, drop a comment or DM.

Are you a recruiter/hiring manager hiring for sales? If yes, please remove "excellent communication skills" from the set criteria in the JD and instead put them as "excellent conversational skills". And for the candidates looking for a career in sales or are already in sales, please work on developing your conversational skills. PS: Let me know if you replaced it in your criteria in the JD. #Sales #conversation #communication
