After years of advocacy against HIV stigma and discrimination, people living with HIV who breast/chestfeed or comfort feed continue to bear the brunt of it. Today, as we commemorate International Human Rights Day, we affirm our stance on the protection of people living with HIV from criminal prosecution for breastfeeding and we urge governments, healthcare providers, justice system actors and international agencies to take action in the respect, promotion and protection of the rights of breastfeeding people living with HIV. Today, EIRWA joins the rest of the world in commemorating World AIDS Day. The theme this year is "Take the Right Path: My Health, My Right!" 🌍❤️ The World Health Organization has issued this public statement, and we wish to amplify it: "Ending AIDS requires that we prioritize and reach everyone who is living with, at risk for or affected by HIV, including men who have sex with men, transgender people, people who inject drugs, sex workers, and people in prisons and other closed settings, as well as their partners. Health is a human right Everyone should have access to the health services they need, including HIV prevention, treatment and care services when and where they need them. Protecting the right to health means ensuring that health care is available to everyone, without any discrimination, regardless of their HIV status, background, gender or where they live. Though progress has been made, challenges in access remain across the Region. Stigma and discrimination undermine the fight against AIDS People living with, at risk for or affected by HIV often experience a double burden of the disease itself and the stigma around it. Challenging stigma and discrimination as well as protecting everyone’s human rights are essential to achieving universal HIV care and breaking down barriers to access." #WorldAIDSDay #MyHealthMyRight #EndAIDS #HealthIsAHumanRight #HIVPrevention #UniversalHealthcare #BreakTheStigma #StopDiscrimination #HIVAwareness #RightToHealth #EqualAccess #AIDSFreeFuture #TakeTheRightPath

As per UNAIDS: Ending AIDS Is About More Than Just Treatment. It's About Justice & Human Rights This year’s theme, "Take the Rights Path," from UNAIDS, emphasises that ending AIDS is not just about medicine but also about ensuring individuals get access to the right treatment. At The Lotus Biotech, we believe that discriminatory laws, stigma and inequality create barriers to HIV care, particularly for marginalised communities. By standing for equality & inclusion, we can ensure everyone has access to HIV prevention, testing, and care. With this approach, we can end AIDS by 2030. Let’s take the rights path for an AIDS-free future . #TLB #TheLotusBiotech #UNAIDS #TakeTheRightsPath #EndAIDS #HumanRights

In a pilot program to address HIV care and intimate partner violence (IPV) in Uganda. Nearly 33% of married or cohabiting adolescent girls and young women ages 15 to 24 in the African country have HIV. Women living in Uganda, especially those living with HIV, tend to agree with or accept violence against women. Societal and cultural norms still have a great bearing on women's perception regarding IPV especially among women in rural areas. What is the status of women in your area regarding IPV? #wesaf #SustainableAfricanFutures #Sustainability

A workplace free of discrimination and prejudice is the basis for effective cooperation. The #PositivArbeiten initiative promotes a non-discriminatory approach to HIV in the workplace. It aims to raise awareness about HIV and reduce fear and stigma among colleagues. The theme of this year's World AIDS Day is 'Living with HIV. Different than you think?' It is not the virus but ignorance and prejudice that often make life unnecessarily difficult for people living with HIV. In reality, people with HIV can live just like everyone else. Find out more about what life with HIV is really like and help reduce discrimination and stigma: www.welt-aids-tag.de BUTTING lives the idea of a workplace free of discrimination. As we observe World Contraceptive Day 2024, it’s crucial to acknowledge the role of HTS Counsellors in shaping healthier futures. My work goes beyond HIV testing; it’s about facilitating access to contraceptive options that empower clients. Through empathetic pre- and post-test counseling, I provide essential information about sexual health, helping individuals understand both their HIV status and the contraceptives available to them. This dual approach reduces the risk of unintended pregnancies and HIV transmission, paving the way for informed choices and stronger communities. On this important day, let’s commit to a future where everyone has the resources they need to thrive.
