Back to work after a few days filled with learning and inspiration! 🚀 Yesterday, we had the opportunity to attend the Flanders AI Research Day in Ghent, and last week we were at the World Summit AI conference in Amsterdam. Both events highlighted the incredible progress being made in the world of #AI. At World Summit AI, the energy around AI innovation was immense. It was amazing to see the number of people and companies leveraging AI in smart, impactful ways. The demos, especially at the Google Cloud booth, really stood out. Their GenAI system, Gemini, showcased impressive versatility in data analytics and visualisation for a fictional mobile barista company. It’s clear that AI is transforming industries left and right. But the conference also served as a reminder: while AI holds enormous potential, we must remain cautious. There are “cowboys” (or “cowgirls”) out there who overpromise, pushing AI into areas where it shouldn’t be used. #ResponsibleAI use is critical, and education around this can’t be emphasized enough. Numerous panel discussions mentioned that our educational systems need to move faster to keep up with the digital age and equip people with the knowledge to use AI ethically and responsibly. At the Flanders AI Research Day, the focus shifted a bit. It was a great reminder that AI is much broader than just Generative AI. There’s still a lot of exciting work happening in classic neural networks and even Good Old Fashioned AI #GOFAI. A lot of research is now centered on making AI more trustworthy, both in its output and in how it handles private data.
