OpenAI makes a move! Appoints retired U.S. Army General to Board of Directors, to run Safety and Security committee. The reason for the appointment? Must be recent news like this one: "The Army awarded Palantir Technologies a $480 million contract to expand a data analysis and decision making tool to more military users across the globe. The Maven Smart System is part of Project Maven, the Pentagon’s marquis artificial intelligence program, which ingests and processes data from multiple sources, like satellite imagery and geolocation data, and uses it to automatically detect potential targets." My take: this is a move to sell security, first to the private institutions (the announcement mentions "hospitals, schools, and financial institutions"). And ultimately, sell to the military complex directly. The military is part of humanity, too.
