MORE F-35B BREAKING NEWS: F-35B downed in December 2022 F-35B downed in September 2023 F-35B downed in May 2024 In every case the pilot was ejected. Not necessarily voluntarily. In July 2022, the Air Force temporarily grounded its F-35s over ejection seat concerns. While the Air Force F-35A does not have an auto-eject function, some of the cartridges that initiate the ejection in the warplane were found to have issues, leading to the grounding. In December 2022, an F-35B that had not yet been delivered to the Marine Corps crashed at Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth in Texas. The jet had been in hover mode over the airfield and began to drop, hit the runway and bounced before the pilot was ejected into the air. The Marine Corps' variant of the F-35 is different from the Air Force and Navy versions in that it can take off and land like a helicopter — which allows it to operate on amphibious assault ships. It is also different in that it's the only one of the three variants that has an auto-eject function on its ejection seat, according to seat manufacturer Martin-Baker. That has raised questions as to whether the malfunction the pilot experienced was the seat itself, or could these ongoing pilot ejections be influenced externally. Martin Baker along with Lockheed Martin and Green Hills Software are all exposed to external Tampering and Abuse due to sub optimal basic security and have been for many years. GHS cite themselves as; ''The leading embedded software experts and the worldwide leader in embedded safety and security.'' This year Lockheed Martin have listed an array of cyber incidents and risks in their SEC filing under the new regulations and reporting. I am unsure how many $100 million F-35B incidents it requires to start being concerning and a pattern, however, with this kind of track record, I am glad I am not an F-35B pilot... #WhitethornShield FBI Cyber Division Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) The White House GCHQ UK Ministry of Defence National Cybersecurity Coordination Center (NCSCC) #InternetSecurity #DNS #PKI https://lnkd.in/euF9ZPpA

Following its formal unveiling, Dec. 2, 2022, the Northrop Grumman B-21 Raider stealth strategic bomber began flight testing here where it continues to make progress toward becoming the backbone of the U.S. Air Force bomber fleet. On May 8, 2024, during testimony at the Senate Armed Services committee, Andrew Hunter, Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics, highlighted B-21 flight testing is on track to meet timelines and deliver to the warfighter. This is the first aircraft that is more digital than not, which contributes to the program meeting requirements. The B-21 is a long-range, highly survivable, penetrating strike stealth bomber that will incrementally replace the B-1 and B-2 bombers and will play a major role supporting national security objectives and assuring U.S. allies and partners across the globe. The B-21 weapon system is manufactured under the Air Force’s contract with Northrop Grumman. It is designed with an open systems architecture, enabling rapid insertion of mature technologies, and allowing the aircraft to remain effective as threats evolve over time. The aircraft is expected to enter service in the mid-2020s with a production goal of a minimum of 100 aircraft. #military #defense #defence #militaryleak https://lnkd.in/gfGke4He

A Marine unit recently discovered metal shavings in the fuel and a plastic tool in the wing of F-35C Joint Strike Fighters. These issues were found in five newly delivered F-35Cs at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in California, resulting in over 700 hours of work and 169,000 pounds of fuel wastage. The commander of Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 311 highlighted persistent delivery discrepancies and component failures in a memo. The quality problems included fuel contamination, incorrectly assembled parts, and various component failures. These issues have impacted the readiness and operational capabilities of the Marine Corps' F-35 fleet. Lockheed Martin, the manufacturer, stated that it is working with the United States Marine Corps and relevant agencies to address the concerns raised. The F-35 Joint Program Office acknowledged the need for corrective actions for quality issues and emphasized ongoing engagement with industry. Though the Marine Corps did not comment on the memo, the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing cited operational security. Experts suggest that the reported problems indicate a pattern and should be addressed promptly to avoid wastage of resources. #MarineCorps #F35 #Aviation #DefenseNews #MilitaryTechnology #AircraftMaintenance #QualityIssues #OperationalReadiness

Lockheed Martin has been awarded a USD 756 million contract to enhance the Long Range Hypersonic Weapon (LRHW) system. This contract will enable the delivery of additional equipment, systems, software engineering support, and logistics solutions to the US Army, reinforcing the nation’s ground-based hypersonic weapon systems. The LRHW represents a breakthrough in missile technology, combining extreme speed and manoeuvrability with the capability to be launched from mobile ground platforms. The system is designed to deploy the common hypersonic All Up Round (AUR), managed by the U.S. Navy's Conventional Prompt Strike (CPS) program, and encompasses the Army's specific canister, a battery operations centre, and transporter erector launchers. Steve Layne, Vice President of Hypersonic Strike Weapon Systems at Lockheed Martin, expressed the company's commitment to advancing the U.S. military's capabilities: “Lockheed Martin is proud to continue our strong partnership with the U.S. government for hypersonic strike capability. With this contract, we will support the U.S. Army to sustain the Long Range Hypersonic Weapon System currently in the hands of U.S. soldiers, produce additional batteries for future fielding, and support flight testing.” Read more here: https://lnkd.in/dRMWu3ZJ #LockheedMartin #USArmy #hypersonic #missile #weapon #system #defence #industry #technology #military #longrange

👮♂️🛩🚢👩🔧✅️ #Safety and #Quality are the pillars of #aerospace industry, we all need to keep the hard work to ensure them. "Metal shavings in contaminated fuel, incorrectly assembled parts, and a plastic scraper protruding from a wing fold were among the faults discovered in 5 new #F35C #JointStrikeFighters delivered to a United States Marine Corps #fighter squadron in California in 2023, according to a memo obtained by Defense News. #MarineFighterAttack #Squadron311, or #VMFA311, at #MarineCorps Air Station #Miramar in San Diego discovered an array of problems with its Lockheed Martin -made #F35's that ultimately required more than 700 hours of work to fix and wasted more than 169,000 pounds of fuel, the Jan. 7 memo said. The memo was written by VMFA-311 commander Lt. Col. Michael Fisher, who described a pattern of “persistent aircraft delivery discrepancies and premature component failures.” Fisher’s memo was approved by Col. William Mitchell, commander of Marine Aircraft Group 11. In a statement to #DefenseNews, #LockheedMartin said it is working closely with the Marine Corps, the government’s F-35 Joint Program Office and the Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) to address concerns raised in the memo. “We take pride in the quality of the #aircraft we deliver to customers around the world and assess all reported customer feedback on production quality and parts reliability,” the company’s statement said." https://lnkd.in/dRUU5-GH #Defence #JPO #DCMA #USMarineCorps #MarineAttack #Squadron311 #AV8 #Harrier #NextGenFighter #FOD

Another ACAT 1 program projected by Congressional budget experts to exceed $500 Million per aircraft or $200 Billion if USAF received a minimum 100 bombers. Total program cost could be much higher. Will the DOGE take a hard look at the projected cost of this new manned bomber? As a result, might the viability and cost associated with the manned bomber component of the sacred Triad be questioned? Can a manned albeit stealthy bomber perform a strategic, one way nuclear strike in a hostile environment surveilled by enemy air/spaceborne assets networked by AI driven architectures? Can a flight of B-21 Raiders successfully avoid detection by a hostile air defense cloud of small early warning sentinel drones operating over possible attack corridors? The discussion of cost might drive more options and better alternatives to meet our national security requirements. Is more expensive better? #B21#F35#DoD#CBO #Pentagon #USAF #NGAD #DOGE #MIC #CMIC #China #TRIAD #USN #USMC #SpaceForce#NRO#Stratcom #CJCS #JointStaff #J3 SecDef #AirUniversity #Deptula

BOOM! Red Lightning! This story discusses #LightningStrike, the exercise my #Marines just completed to validate our ability to support 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing's ability to fly, fight, and win in today's operational environment. 'Lightning Strike' combined MWCS-38's Marine Corps Combat Readiness Evaluation (MCCRE) with a test of our ability to support new Mission Essential Tasks in support of the Hub-Spoke-Node model of employment. Finally, it integrated enabling C2 in a contested environment, subjecting #Marines to constant harassing attacks while they installed, operated, secured, and maintained a robust C2 architecture employing both commercial off the shelf equipment as well as government programs of record. If you'd like to learn a bit more, check out the story below, and many thanks to DefenseScoop for taking the time to cover this evolution: https://lnkd.in/eCTruKvs
