I stumbled upon a video that showcases something truly exceptional - the F-35 Lightning II, currently the pinnacle of aerial combat technology. This isn't just another fighter jet; it's a masterclass in engineering and strategic dominance, filmed with unparalleled access at Hill Air Force Base by Sam Eckholm. What sets the F-35 apart is not just its ability to hit supersonic speeds over 1,200 mph or its stealth capabilities that make it nearly invisible to enemy radars. It's the integration of the most advanced weapons system and sensor suite ever deployed on a fighter jet. This aircraft doesn't just participate in the battlefield; it dominates it. Hearing from Major Kristen "Beo" Wolfe, Commander of the F-35A Demonstration Team, you get a real sense of what it's like to be behind the controls of such power. Piloting the F-35 is likened to being in control at the peak of a roller coaster - except this ride has the capability to redefine the outcomes of conflicts before they even begin. This video is more than just a walkthrough; it's a window into the future of military aviation. For anyone with an interest in where technology is pushing the limits of what's possible in defense and combat, this is something you need to see. Thank you Bridget Lauderdale for sharing this! #Innovation #MilitaryExcellence #AerospaceEngineering #CombatReady #FutureOfCombat #Leadership
I want to encourage you to check out Sam Eckholm’s latest video, in partnership with the U.S. Air Force and F-35 pilot Maj. Kristin “Beo” Wolfe. Sam and Beo dive into the 5th Generation capabilities of the F-35, key differences of the variants and the flight gear that keeps pilots safe. The video ends with an action-packed flight demo viewed from both inside the cockpit and from the ground. Check out the full video here: https://lnkd.in/gQWdvJew. 🇺🇸 🛩️ The United States Air Force has contracted Elbit Systems of America to supply F-16 Block 40/42 Wide-Angle Conventional Head-Up Display replacements. 🗨️ Elbit America Senior Vice President of Electronic Systems Scott Tumpak: “The Wide-Angle Conventional Head-Up Display replacements provide modernization, but also commonality across the US Air Force’s F-16 fleet.” “This commonality benefits the pilots, maintainers and supply chain, as the single configuration is easier to manage and maintain across the entire F-16 fleet.”

I was reading the January 2025 issue of AirForces Monthly and came across an article about the 50-year journey of the F-4 Phantom in the Turkish Air Force. I have to say, it really caught my attention. I suppose they chose to feature it not just because it’s a milestone worth celebrating, but because it’s the kind of story that aviation enthusiasts like me would find captivating. For me, the article wasn’t so much about the technical details as it was about the legacy of these incredible aircraft. It felt like a celebration of their history, and I thought it would be nice to share my own take on it. Fifty years is such a long time for any aircraft to remain in service, and it seems like the Phantoms have seen some incredible changes in the Turkish Air Force over those decades. From what I gathered, these planes brought cutting-edge weapons and radar systems that really transformed how air-to-ground and air-to-air missions were carried out. What stood out to me was the introduction of two-person crews, with pilots and weapons systems officers working together. I imagine that must have been a big adjustment back then, requiring new ways of training and teamwork. The Peace Diamond projects seem to have been crucial in keeping the Phantoms up to date and effective over the years. What really struck me was how these planes came to be known as "Baba," meaning "Father" in Turkish. That nickname says so much about the trust and emotional connection people had with them. The 50th anniversary celebrations, including air shows, photo shoots, and ceremonies, felt like a fitting tribute to such a legendary aircraft. Even though it sounds like only a few squadrons will continue flying them, I can’t imagine the Phantoms being forgotten. They have clearly left their mark, not just as reliable machines but as a symbol of trust, innovation, and resilience in Turkish aviation. It is amazing to think about how much these planes have meant to the people who flew them and the generations who grew up seeing them in the skies.
