Today I have completed the Proof of Completion of the Online Training to pilot an Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) in the Open A1/A3 category. This isn’t a degree or one of those important achievements to be extremely proud of, but i wants to share it as I felt a huge discrepancy between European countries. To obtain this certificate in Italy, you need to go to the ENAC website, which is the authority for UAS and they give you for free a pdf, about 120 pages long, with horrible graphics and not that smart learning techniques. After reading this document you simply have to take a multiple choice online exam, no physical testing, no “effort” put from their side to explain the 31€ fee that you have to pay. After a small research I have tried the course and exam from the Luxembourg Direction of Civil Aviation. Not only it is free, it is also valid in all EASA countries (exactly like ENAC’s one), and is extremely interactive, with loads of examples and real life scenarios for you to perfectly understand the regulations. I think learning has gone incredibly forward nowadays, and technology has given us so many tools to allow learning to become much easier and effortless. I’m curious, what do you think about this?
