*Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, in Partnership with NCAA, Hosts High-Level Conference on the Convention on International Interests in Mobile Equipment and the Aircraft Protocol* The Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, in collaboration with the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), today hosted a high-profile conference on the Convention on International Interests in Mobile Equipment and the Aircraft Protocol. The conference, held at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja, was chaired by the Vice President of Nigeria, His Excellency Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON, represented by the Honourable Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo SAN. In his keynote address, the Minister emphasized the significance of aligning Nigeria's aviation sector with global best practices, a move critical to fostering industry growth, enhancing regulatory frameworks, and promoting international collaboration. The event brought together prominent stakeholders, including global aviation leaders such as Boeing, private airline operators, and regulatory authorities, to discuss strategies for driving innovation and sustainable growth in the aviation sector. Minister Keyamo reiterated the government's commitment to ensuring Nigeria remains competitive in the global aviation landscape through adherence to international standards and fostering strategic partnerships.

The Nigerian Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, is in discussions with Brazilian Ambassador to Nigeria, Carlos Garcete, to finalise a Bilateral Air Service Agreement (BASA) between the two nations, aimed at launching direct flights by Nigerian airlines to Brazil. A statement issued by Tunde Moshood, media aide to the minister, confirmed that the agreement builds on a 2018 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) designed to boost air connectivity and economic cooperation. Both officials emphasised the need to update the BASA framework to reflect current trends in the aviation industry.
