NHS England has warned about the perfect storm, a 'quademic'. Airborne disease that includes RSV, Influenza A, Coronavirus and Norovirus. Factor in C.Diff spores floating around and there has never been a better reason to protect patients and staff from opportunistic infections. Our frustration is that the hierarchy of controls states that PPE, whilst a necessary tool, is the least effective approach. Engineering approaches are the third and removal the best. Our proven air purification systems, the only ones currently fully compliant with the update to HTM03.01, can offer almost instant risk reduction. By maintaining the air as clean, equivalent to a pharmacy clean room, the air is so dilute it is difficult to catch any of these diseases. Not only that, but if they are not wafting around the place, surface cleaning becomes more effective. With over 68% of clinical areas not effectively ventilated, after 25 years of shouting this following message out, isn't it about time you called us? 'You can't catch what isn't there!' A four bed ward can be protected for around £3.90 a day, including maintenance and all consumables. With face masks only being needed in close proximity to patients, this saving alone can cover the cost. Why not enter this winter in control of seasonal outbreaks rather than having them control you? #Ventilation #Quademic #Flu #RSV #SarsCov2 #Norovirus #CDiff #InfectionPrevention #InfectionControl #Seasonal #PPE #NHS

Have you ever wondered about the meaning of the colored cards placed at the door of the patient's room? There are four types of isolation precedure based on the patient's case, and each color indicates a specific procedure. 1. Standard Precautions - Apply universally to all patients. - Key Elements : Hand hygiene, use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves and masks, safe handling of needles, and proper disposal of waste. - Application : Used for all patients regardless of their infection status. 2. Droplet Precautions - Focus on respiratory droplets over short distances. - Key Elements : Use of a surgical mask when within 3-6 feet of the patient, and patient should wear a mask during transport. - Disease: Influenza 3. Airborne Precautions - Protect against pathogens that can travel long distances in the air. - Key Elements : Use of N95 respirators or powered air-purifying respirators (PAPRs), isolation in a negative pressure room, and limiting patient transport. - Disease : Measles 4. Contact Precautions - Prevent transmission through direct or indirect contact with patients or their environment. - Key Elements : Use of gloves and gowns when entering the patient’s room, and dedicated or disposable equipment when possible.

The World Health Organization has released new guidelines on the transmission of airborne germs, including COVID-19. The new outline has resulted in two new definitions, "transmission through air" and "direct disposition." "Airborne transmission" refers to infectious germs being expelled through a cough, sneeze, or breathing, while "direct disposition" refers to respiratory particles landing on a person's mouth, nose, or eyes. The terms "contact transmission" and "direct contact transmission" remain the same. Stay informed and read more about these new definitions in the attached article. #docsfs #WHO #COVID19 #transmission #airbornegerms #savinglives #safeguardinglives https://lnkd.in/gJUvZMGD

The best time to use prevention strategies is before you get sick. Older adults, young children, people with compromised immune systems, people with disabilities, and pregnant people are those most at risk of severe illness from respiratory viruses. We recommenda few core strategies to keep you safe: - Take steps to improve air circulation - Practice good hygiene like frequent handwashing - Get your COVID-19, flu, and RSV (if eligible) vaccines The more strategies you implement, the better your chances of staying healthy. Make a plan to layer prevention strategies and fight off respiratory illness this season: https://bit.ly/3XDSVIo

In March 2024, the CDC updated its recommendations for protecting yourself and others from respiratory viruses like COVID-19, flu, and RSV. Updates to recommendations were made due to changes in the numbers of hospitalizations and deaths from COVID-19, coupled with the increased availability of tools to combat COVID, flu and RSV. Here’s the latest guidance and what you need to know: https://lnkd.in/eGxCpqKc

While conducting morning rounds, I spoke with my team about the importance of reducing HAIs and the dangers of dust in healthcare settings. Also, wearing goggles while dusting 🥽 Dust in healthcare settings poses several dangers, including: 1. Infection Risk: Dust can harbor harmful microorganisms, including bacteria, fungi, and viruses, which can cause infections, especially in immunocompromised patients. 2. Allergic Reactions: Dust contains allergens that can trigger respiratory issues, such as asthma and allergic rhinitis, in patients and healthcare workers. 3. Equipment Contamination: Dust can accumulate on medical equipment, leading to potential malfunctions and inaccurate readings or results. 4. Reduced Air Quality: High levels of dust can degrade indoor air quality, contributing to respiratory problems and discomfort for patients and staff. 5. Cross-Contamination: Dust can act as a vehicle for cross-contamination, spreading pathogens from one area to another within the healthcare facilities. #zeroharmmindset

February 2020 - The last time I saw friends before the pandemic was known in NYC. I celebrated a birthday in a public place before the entire world changed. This was a few weeks before my first of Covid infection in NYC before the shut downs. Now the CDC & other public health organizations have been letting it rip for years. We have zero covid mitigations now. We are in much worse shape now than in 2020 or 2021. High risk people are locked out of society. To all those people not wearing masks thinking vax & relax will save you - it won’t. My first infection was in the beginning March 16 2020 when I showed symptoms. My first infection was awful. I was down for 6 weeks. I did recover & always masked. In 2021 I was vaccinated & boosted. I was reinfected in December 2022 at Target optical getting glasses. The second Covid infection was not mild for the infection but different than the first infection. The second covid infection affected my eyes. I had on a 3M aura N95 mask in December 2022, which saved my life. The one way masking though did not protect my eyes when the Covid positive employee at Target was helping me. It was confirmed by an employee after the fact that the person helping me had Covid. By 2022 all mask mandates were dropped everywhere including in healthcare settings & including essential services. The second infection was when I got Long Covid. The third infection was March 2023 at home by my loved one. I had Hepa filters all over the house which didn’t help. I opened the windows for ventilation & ended up getting mold in the home. The third infection made my Long Covid situation worse. I knew about #Faruv for months when I saw the hashtags #davossafe & #davosstandards. I started advocating online for Far UV after my third infection. I believe in layered protections. We all deserve to be #davossafe. I refuse to fall by the wayside as Dr. Fauci stated on national TV that the vulnerable will “fall by the wayside”. No loss is an acceptable loss and all long covid can be prevented by preventing covid by #cleaningtheair. This is my story. This is why I’m advocating now for #faruv to be in every public indoor building w/ #faruvc There is no scientific reason the CDC lowered the quarantine days of people who are infectious with Covid spreading the disease in public & maskless. What most people don’t realize is everyone is vulnerable to Covid & Long Covid. We need to be advocating for safe #indoorairquality #faruv is the safe & effective solution to truly end this pandemic once & for all. There is no logical reason it should not be implemented everywhere to keep us all safe. There will be many before photos of before #longcovid #longcovidawareness #COVIDisAirborne #CovidIsntOver #covidisstillhere #CovidIsNotOver #faruvc #faruvclight222nm
