If you can see them … you can save them !!! The use of hi tech thermal sensors on our Ripper Drones has highlighted the critical impact logging has had on the endangered Greater Glider in New South Wales. Concerned community groups have banded together to bring in Ripper Corp hi tech drones to save endangered Greater Gliders. We worked with traditional ground survey methods and compared them to the Ripper drone survey findings, with an 85% greater accuracy. The commencement of logging in Styx River State Forest and Bulga State Forest has highlighted the failings of the Forestry Corporation greater glider survey program and the risks of ongoing logging to the endangered Greater Glider. Ripper Corporation is dedicated to working with community and business to honestly survey wildlife in an effort to preserve our country's amazing bio diversity. Ripper Corp is one of the few highly specialised Drone wildlife survey companies with infrared sensors and infrared lasers that can track & survey endangered wildlife in remote & harsh locations. #rippercorp #dronesurvey #infrared #savethegliders #greatergliders #dronesforgood #wwf #biodiversity #stoplogging #wildlifedrones #australia #littleripper

🌊 Dive into the world of oceanic technology with NOAA Fisheries! 🐋 From drones to innovative data collection methods, here's a snapshot of how cutting-edge tools are unraveling the mysteries of marine life and ecosystems. Here’s a humorous take on the "serious" business of whale research: 🔍 **Whale of a Time:** Imagine being a whale scientist - spying on seals from a drone, tracking a whale's winter migration, and cracking the mysteries of the deep! If only we could tag ourselves to understand our snack cravings as well as they track ocean patterns 🐟🍣. 🚁 **Drone Zone:** Did you know NOAA: National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration uses drones to monitor wildlife in Antarctica? Imagine being a seal posing for a drone photoshoot in the Southern Ocean - "Wait, is this my good flipper side?" 📸🦭 🧠 **Tag, You're It:** Smart tags on marine animals reveal their secrets - migratory routes, feeding habits, and more. It's like marine reality TV, but without the drama (or popcorn). 📊🦈 🌊 **Underwater World:** NOAA's underwater vehicles, like the SeaBED AUV, unveil the beauty and depth of ocean life. From deep-sea coral gardens to curious seal mischief, it's a Pandora's box of marine marvels! 🦀🤿 🔊 **Calling All Creatures:** Acoustic technology helps us eavesdrop on underwater dialogues, uncovering the symphony of marine life. Can you imagine whales composing underwater operas as we listen in? 🎶🐋 🚢 **Ship Ahoy!** NOAA's fleet sails the seas for research - from high-tech mapping to fish stock surveys. It's like a marine detective series, but with more lab coats and less fedoras! 🕵️♂️⚓ 🧬 **DNA Discoveries:** Genetics unveil the secrets of marine life, from turtle lineages to fish ages. It's a marine CSI, where DNA tells the fishy tales of the underwater world! 🧬🐢 🔬 **The Future is Here:** Technology like Fourier Transform-Near Infrared Spectroscopy revolutionizes fish age research. Fish otoliths, the "tree rings" of the sea, now age faster than a stopwatch! 🐟⏰ 🔮 **Beyond Borders:** NOAA's state-of-the-art labs and facilities are like oceanic Hogwarts, blending science, technology, and marine magic. Who knew studying the sea could be so spellbinding! 🌊🔬 👩🔬 **Join the Science Squad:** From acoustic symphonies to genetic mysteries, the ocean's secrets await discovery with NOAA Fisheries. It's a scientific adventure where every flipper and fin has a story to tell! 🌟🐬 https://lnkd.in/ggNHqZa7

Our Burnett Mary Regional Group (BMRG) team recently undertook a three-day expedition to conduct baseline monitoring for The Recovery & Resilience of the Bulberin Nut Project. After camping out in the Bulburin National Park for a few days, here’s what we accomplished: Vegetation Assessments and Weed Data Collection: Understanding the current state of weeds is crucial for effective management. The team assessed the vegetation and collected valuable data on weed distribution. Drone Technology for Mapping: By using drones, the team mapped the distribution of weeds. This technology allows us to prioritise future weed management efforts efficiently. Challenging Terrain: The crew braved the rugged terrain in a remote area of the National Park. Fieldwork can be tough, but it’s essential for conservation efforts. Identifying Threats: Key threats to the Bulberin Nut (Macadamia jansenii), include pest animals, weeds, disease, and fire. This knowledge helps guide conservation strategies. We are proud to be part of this important conservation project, which received grant funding from the Australian Government Saving Native Species Program. #australianthreatenedspecies #resilience Macadamia Conservation Trust Gidarjil Development

Lifelong Learning with #candokiwis Do you have a passion for nature and technology? Interesting fact: Get away, grizzly: why scientists are chasing bears with drones. Wildlife experts in US west have found small aircraft are ideal for protecting humans and livestock from predators. In research forthcoming in the journal Frontiers of Conservation Science, Sarmento – now a PhD student at the University of Montana – shows that aerial drones outperformed all other hazing methods tested in his experiments. They provide a way to move grizzly bears away from humans that is safe for humans and animals alike. Read more here on the Guardian website. https://lnkd.in/gKAxksPY Can Do Kiwis supports the importance of lifelong learning through knowledge to help you find and develop your passion.
