Before joining Eightfold, I challenged myself—and now I challenge my HR network—to ask: With all the technology at our fingertips, what core outcome are we truly driving toward? Over the last decade, HR technology has evolved into a powerful, complex, and costly ecosystem (I know because I helped organizations deploy it countless times) —one built around the many challenges of human-driven processes. We've added module after module, solution after solution, each one promising a faster, more efficient way to advance through the traditional recruitment and HRIS pipeline. But at the end of the day, what is all of this tech trying to do? Strip away the noise, and the goal remains the same: achieve a dynamic understanding of talent and align that talent with organizational needs. Without AI, we’ve relied on casting wider nets, managing stacks of resumes, keyword ranking tools, video interviews, scheduling solutions, and external assessments—each step another attempt to find the right fit. All these layers, all these steps, all in service of making educated guesses about talent potential. Now, imagine this: if an AI system with billions of data points could show us the exact skills we need in the precise places we need them, would the legacy hiring process even be necessary? Would we even need job postings in the traditional sense?? Instead of ‘fishing in the same pond’ of limited talent pools, arguing over increasing salary or what the next hot benefit is to "win the war for talent"..We’d transform into true business consultants, aligning talent to opportunity and strategy, not just fulfilling reqs. We'd finally crack the nut of internal mobility & talent management as we illuminate the skill gaps and the paths to obtain them for our employees.
