It is very hard to be constantly and uncompromisingly innovating. Entrepreneurs, I know for certain you know what this entails. For those who may not be aware of how this affects tourism, the success of achieving milestones like sold-out tours comes from a continuous process of optimisation, growth, expansion, reevaluation, striving for improvement (even if not always successful), and revising our methods and operations. We think of everything so you don’t have to, down to the most granular detail. This was a big thought process for me recently as we were scouting some new sites on our latest tour to include or fill in any gaps we perceived there to be in the other packages we offer. We also had a massive win in establishing a permanent, dedicated and exclusive area for our camping needs on the Explorer tour in one of WA’s busiest national parks… Which took countless hours of talking to the correct individuals, dissecting permits, and making time to visit the site. And it all feels so worth it because I get to go on these tours alongside fellow expats currently based in WA and spend time in and amongst nature—in perfect solitude. In the past 500 days I’ve flown 80,000+ miles and visited 13 countries. But you know what I’ve realized? It’s NOT sustainable. (Or at least… not for me anyway) People like to hype up the “digital nomad lifestyle” but never talk about the: - discomfort of “homelessness” - pain of navigating new cities - difficulty to stay focused & productive Every time I moved to a new country I basically had to start all over again. New people. New language. New restaurants. So instead of nomading… I’ve been sticking in Thailand and will most likely end up staying here long-term! Been an awesome experience.
