Hindi is not the national language of India. However, it is one of the official languages of the country. India does not have a designated national language. The Indian Constitution recognizes the multilingual nature of the country, with different languages spoken across its various states and regions. Hindi, written in the Devanagari script, is one of the 22 scheduled languages of India. Along with English, Hindi is used for official purposes by the central government. However, states in India are free to have their own official languages. The debate around Hindi being promoted as a national language has been contentious due to the linguistic diversity of India. Non-Hindi-speaking states, especially in southern and northeastern India, have often opposed the idea of imposing Hindi as a national or sole official language.
The Hindi as a national language debate. She makes some really interesting points. Teach the mother tongue. And the local language. Thats the way to save our culture. We have already paid a high price for English.
