Highly recommend this q&a as a broad overview to help better understand the positioning of Saudi foreign policy.
We are grateful to His Royal Highness Prince Turki AlFaisal for speaking at Chatham House today and sharing his perspectives on the Gaza war, Saudi Arabia's role in the region and relations with international actors. OLD AFGHAN / IRAQ TOUR SKILLS STILL COUNT OK this isn't *entirely* or directly relevant, as PSD Operators may be required to operate in a complex urban environment (or extract a client by fire from a contested built structure, in the workplace) - but we are not 'military', PMC or expected to engage in Urban Combat (OBUA / FIBUA) as such. We may 'fight a Principal out' of a building or built up area when extracting, but rarely would we 'fight through or in'. However in a job where the evolving IED threat is one of the primary lethal hazards, I wanted to share this 'combat camera' footage from the violent and ongoing Gaza fighting. Troops send an obligatory 'recce pair' ahead to 'scope' a house, then pile in without doing what we TELIC/HERRICK veterans would call our '5 and 20 (m checks)' properly. Palestinian gunmen, ever observant and keen to showcase what they've learned, ruthlessly punish the mistake by atomising the house in a pretty spectacular explosion. They also 'lie doggo' when a Merkava tank does a 'clearance' of the street prior to the infantry advancing. I hope many survived, but my experience tells me most of the troops in the house will only exit feet-first. For some unknown reason, the Media Warfare / Editor man doesn't edit out the long excited diatribe to camera that follows in Arabic afterwards (basically a long list of perceived crimes against Palestinians by a bloke high on adrenaline, followed by a general sense of 'come on and get it you b******s'. It's little different in substance from equivalent videos featuring English speaking and Western forces on GWOT operations). However it does remind me of both the Blitz and our Bombing Campaign on Germany (Beyond a point, it stops harming people, they've nothing left to lose, their relatives are dead, and instead you have a 'Blitz Spirit' where they become furious, united and defiant with all their rage focused on you) Remember your training people, never forget your '5 & 20's'. Tread lightly. And be safe. William Davis, M.A. Omar A. We want to see more GCC countries follow in the steps of KSA. We want them to stand firm on making Israel understand that their manipulative behavior to bully Palestinians and the rest of the world with their lies has never worked and WILL never work. What I dream about is for KSA and SA to join forces into suing the UK and US at the ICJ. #freepalestine #gazagenocide
