Two days ago, Medusa launched version 2.0 of their platform, prompting us to take a closer look at the new features. So, what exactly has changed?
A sleek new admin interface — it’s clean, user-friendly, and a significant improvement.
New e-commerce features (e.g., ‘buy online, pick up in-store,’ multi-part products, new authentication methods, granular promotions) — we’ve been fighting with multi-part products on our last project, so we’re pumped that this feature has finally landed.
Composable architecture — the components are now even more decoupled than before, allowing for incremental or partial adoption. This is fantastic news because we can integrate Medusa into existing systems without needing to rebuild them from the ground up.
Built-in server framework — thanks to the tools provided by Medusa, we can create completely custom features when necessary, which is excellent since high customizability is what initially attracted us to Medusa and differentiates it from solutions like Shopify and Magento.
Overall, it’s a huge update. We’ve been using Medusa for a while now, and integrating it into some projects has proven more challenging than expected. These new features address some of the issues we've faced, making this a great step forward for Medusa.
Great job, Nicklas Gellner, and kudos to the team!
