Just wrapped up an insightful focus group discussion this week! Navigating the funding landscape from Series A to C rounds is no easy feat for startups. Securing capital is paramount for growth and sustainability, yet it comes with its own set of challenges. With limited existing literature in this area, an academic journey was embarked upon to uncover valuable insights. Utilising a mixed-methods approach including regression techniques, quantitative data from 200 successful funding rounds in Singapore spanning 2021 to 2023 was analysed. Complementing this, qualitative data was gathered through in-depth focus group discussions involving 8 participants with experienced in corporate funding and valuation. The findings from this study offer practical insights derived from real-world fundraising experiences. The Focus Group quorum was filled up with qualified speakers within 24 hours of opening. It's about that "giving-back culture" our innovation community needs more of. I oftentimes reflect on the importance of looking beyond funding, financing, skills, infrastructure, clients or network, when it comes to building stronger innovation communities. I meet myself at the same point - giving back - Daring to say our innovation communities need more positive impact through dosages of human empathy and engagement. Receiving without profit being the currency of exchange.
