Active ATC: FSSS - Seychelles 🇸🇨 As an ATC working in the FSSS Area Control Center, I see so many of these types of Request messages from various aircraft daily. On our end, we have pre-formatted messages for responses to such requests. In this instance for example: 1. The pilots request comes in as a CPDLC downlink message. 2. We process the request and our system automatically detects that the aircraft is requesting climb to FL360 (36,000 feet). 3. A “probe” is done whereby any potential conflict with another aircraft at FL360 is highlighted and immediately brought to the attention of the ATC. 4. In the event the probe doesn’t detect a conflict, the climb clearance is sent to the pilots as a CPDLC uplink message. 5. The clearance is accepted by the pilots with a “WILCO” response & the climb is effected as seen in the video. As an added safety feature, we can actually see what Flight Level the pilots select in their Flight Control Unit (FCU). If there are any discrepancies, we alert the pilots immediately to check their input.
