🔸️Lessons from the market: OPERA CAMPI - world's best hemp 🔸️ Thanks to Alberto Ziveri who was present at our online talks during my lesson "Textile Lab" at IED Istituto Europeo di Design. 📣𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟑 𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚 𝐝𝐢 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐚 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚 𝐝𝐞𝐥 𝐅𝐢𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞! The 2023 AR was developed by a working group within the Opera di Santa Maria del Fiore, with the technical and scientific support of ARCO Action Research for CO-development. For this edition, the Opera has enriched the content of the Annual Report, in compliance with the information required by the regulations for Social Reports for #ThirdSector entities and with reference to the international reporting standards of the #GlobalReporting Initiative (GRI). Starting from the 2023 edition, the Annual Report is subject to voluntary review by the independent audit firm Ernst & Young with the aim of providing stakeholders with a transparent and objective document. The Annual Report aims, in fact, to be a tool for dialogue between the Opera and its stakeholders by informing them of the activities carried out during the year and the objectives achieved, going beyond economic reporting. The #restoration and maintenance activities of the monuments, the main statutory purpose and ultimately the reason for the existence of the Institution, with in-depth analyses of the main interventions carried out during 2023. Among the main interventions, we highlight the raising of the balustrade of the lantern of the #Dome; the restoration of the closed rooms of #Giotto's #BellTower has been completed, while that of the mosaic vault of the Baptistery has begun, which will last for approximately 6 years. In addition, several restoration interventions have been carried out in the #Cathedral. A specific chapter is dedicated to the visitors who returned regularly to visit the monuments of the #Florence Cathedral in 2023 after the limitations imposed by the Covid-19. The data show that in 2023 there were 1,328,522 visitors, a significant increase compared to 2022. The #AnnualReport contains descriptions of the religious activity for which the Cathedral of S. Maria del Fiore was built, as well as that carried out by the Historical Archive. Particular attention is paid to communication, which this year too represented an important link between the Opera and its public through traditional media, social media and website. “Reviving a Vision: The Cardiff Bay Opera House Reimagined” The shelving of Zaha Hadid’s Cardiff Bay Opera House in the 1990s remains a regrettable moment in British architectural history. Her bold, fluid design could have transformed Cardiff into a global cultural destination. Reviving this project today would not only honour Hadid’s legacy but also establish a permanent home for the Welsh National Opera and celebrate the British baritone—one of the UK’s greatest contributions to classical music. An architect like Frank Gehry, renowned for venues like the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles and the Pierre Boulez Saal in Berlin, could bring this vision to life. Gehry’s mastery of acoustics and his ability to create spaces that transcend function make him an ideal candidate. His proposed concert hall in Wimbledon highlights Britain’s openness to foreign architectural interventions—but Cardiff Bay, with its rich cultural context and unfinished narrative, offers a more impactful site. Here, Gehry could create a design that harmonises with Hadid’s unrealized vision while establishing its own identity. Resurrecting the Cardiff Bay Opera House would finally fulfill the area’s original master plan: a vibrant cultural district anchored by a world-class venue. Most people today believe that classical music, art, opera, and ballet are ideologically neutral. But they were, in fact, highly ideological during the 18th and 19th centuries. Sentiments and notions that we take for granted today, such as love and liberty, were deemed by the ruling class as weaponized propaganda by the bourgeoisie to stir up class struggles. It was the European civil rights movement of the 18th and 19th centuries. Then came the dangerous ideologies, such as nationalism, capitalism, anarchism, communism, fascism, and the slaughterhouse along with them. It is crucial to reexamine the historical and political context of classical music, art, opera, and ballet in the 18th and 19th centuries. This reassessment can help us challenge the prevailing notion of ideological neutrality and foster a more nuanced understanding of the political economy of that era.

Comencé a esbozar óperas como estrategia artistica By this “working progress” I aim to create a work with a common group that transports the memories of a transforming place in to the existent place with memory. “Public Opera” was written collectively generating likewise, a meetingpoint where the horizontal dialogue between the inhabitants of Águeda (portugal) life and build a common andunique identity from this place, which gives voice to “unknown” lives. It is are- interpretation of history and reading of the city from folk tales lives, life experiences of the neighborhoods, by a process of an “invisible architecture”composition. Writing together a story, telling about a inexistent place, showing, teaching as opposed to “product” of a show. A tool that allows us proletarianize the concept that lies on classic opera. An opera that connects the territory with the people living in it, working with the human factor that structures any city. A street story inspired by the figure of troubadour, carrying stories from one side to another city, invoking the words of the neighbors of space to public space. Drawing on the city as a backdrop. A lyrical and theatrical journey through chapters, stories that re-interpret what happened and what is happening.
