The Padel World Summit was an incredible event. I was impressed by the number and, most importantly, the quality of speakers, guests and visitors with whom I had the privilege of exchanging ideas and insights about the #future of #padel. Thank you, Alex Ponseti and the entire team. First editions are always unpredictable, but you exceeded all expectations! One of the most intriguing sessions for me was the one focused on the 𝐝𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐩𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐥 𝐢𝐧 𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬, along with the opportunity to preview the new reports from Playtomic + Deloitte and the International Padel Federation. I have been studying this for at least 7 years, and through the Consulting section of Padel Travel, I have had the honor of assisting various projects in diverse contexts, from #Italy to #Sweden, #Switzerland to #Bahrain, and recently in #Tanzania. Moreover since 2018, we have welcomed at Padel Travel, trained, and exchanged ideas and information with many entrepreneurs and clubs opening in different countries. As a numbers enthusiast, and considering the many entrepreneurs who have recognized the potential of padel and want to invest, I thought about the 𝐤𝐞𝐲 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 to consider if a hypothetical "borderless" investor asked me 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭. My top parameters would be: 𝐏𝐨𝐩𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧-𝐭𝐨-𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐭 𝐑𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨: This parameter gives the best idea of the growth potential for padel in that country. #Spain = mature market with 1 court for every 2,800 inhabitants #USA = very young market with 1 court for every 300,000. 𝐏𝐨𝐩𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: All else being equal, a larger country has greater appeal. 𝐏𝐞𝐫 𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐚 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞: With the rising costs associated with padel, finding a country with high purchasing power can be crucial for premium projects. 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐭 𝐑𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨: In countries with harsh conditions for many months of the year, outdoor courts are unusable (e.g., Northern Europe and the Middle East). This parameter can be more important than the population-to-court ratio. 𝐍𝐨𝐧-𝐍𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬: Bureaucratic timing and ease of access to credit are also vital considerations. I do not consider 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫𝐬 due to 3 main reasons: - incredibly difficult to estimate. - depends on the number of existing courts. (How can you play if there are no courts?). - we are studying a trend, we are interested in what the scenario will be in 5-10 years, not today. What about you? What other parameters would you consider? I’ll give you another factor to take into account. Number of racquet sports players. At The Sports Haus we see a huge number of crossover tennis, squash, pickleball and platform tennis players that try padel and LOVE IT! In the 🇺🇸 there are 20M tennis players and 50M pickleball players. How many of these will try padel? It will depend on court accessibility.

Alessandro Di Stefano, in addition to the key parameters you laid out well in the post I would add these that I personally use: - Number of followers on social i.e. those users who follow padel through social networks such as those of Meta for example in the different countries or territories. These users represent a part of the population that follows padel-related posts and is addicted to the sport. I personally analyze this data every six months by nations or cities to see the trend. - Growth trend of user visitors to international padel-related sites. To do this analysis accurately, however, one must have data from a site that has a frequency of several hundred thousand users per month. This type of analysis allows you to see over time whether the number of those following the sport is growing in a given nation. - Google Trend Analysis: Allows you to compare at the individual country level or globally the trend of those who follow via Google searches padel over time. You can also compare padel with other sports (I like to see trends in padel compared to tennis or pickleball, for example). Ciao 😀

Alessandro Di Stefano I’d have loved to have had a chat with you so I hope we can organise one in the near future! In additikn to the other comments, for me a good indicator is based on a social cultural factor. We all agreed how good Padel is in generating community but if you plug in “local people” that’s when it can become diferencial. Also another can be the number of racquet academies (tennis as a close example) this indicates the number of participants who are already on a learning path, so the work is based on a conversation as well as a creating of new players/user

Thanks Alessandro Di Stefano for having attended the Summit! 🤗 It was a big honour meeting you in person and listening to you at the Congress! 🙌 What I remember the most is the you offer "padel experiences", which go beyond padel classes and you take care also of members of the families and groups joining your centers who are are not passionate or interested in playing padel. Well done! 👏 Let's talk soon Alessandro! 💫

It was great to have you Alessandro Di Stefano - so glad you enjoyed the first edition.

It was great to hear your insights into this fast growing market! 👏🏻

Gracias por compartir sus conocimientos sobre los parámetros clave a considerar al invertir en pádel. Otro factor importante a considerar podría ser el nivel de competencia en el mercado y el potencial de diferenciación.
