9 - Cylinder Rotatory Engine
What a great animation. I had the good fortune to fly with a pair of Mitchell B-25s forest fire fighting in the NWT in the late 70's. Blew a jug. Changed a jug. Right there on the tarmac. Then Captain Smiling Jack says let’s go for a tear to test the quality of our work. Looks across at me and says, let’s buzz the tower / and we did. ❤️🇨🇦🤠 what great memories! 😎 What a motor!!
Moteur en étoile, pas rotatif
I learned a couple things about rotary engines, because some cylinders are on top. Some cylinders are on bottom lubrication can be a problem. We had a customer who wanted to run one on natural gas and lubricate it, externally, possible, but actually brings up a whole Lotta issues!!

9moIt is a radial engine. On a rotary engine the crankshaft is fixed and the cylinders/crankcase and propeller rotate around it. A Gnome is an example of a rotary aircraft engine.
