In two days, I’ll be hopping on a plane to Denmark! 🇩🇰 Why Denmark? Well, among the many reasons, the main one is that I’ll be attending two incredible robotics conferences—ROSCon and ICSR. For those who don’t know me, I have a deep passion for robotics software, especially ROS2. Outside of my day job, I spend my free time working on robotics projects, mentoring the NASA-sponsored FTC-6323 "Pink Team", and pursuing my master’s in computer science with a focus on robotics through Georgia Tech’s OMCS program. When I learned about ROSCon, I knew it was something I needed to attend—both to advance my career and grow personally. ICSR also happened to be at the same time, so I signed up for that too. This trip is not work-related, and to be honest, it’s way outside my comfort zone. It’s my first robotics conference, my first time in Denmark, and my first solo international trip. Am I nervous? It was a pleasure to have the G3 Robotics FIRST team from Midtown High School visit Dematic 's Global Headquarters in Atlanta with their impressive robot, Dancing Queen, in tow for a live demonstration. The students explained their preparation process for upcoming competitions, and they shared how their participation on a FIRST Robotics team has exposed them to building essential skills for their future. There was one student in particular who had a wonderful story of her progress in robotics - she went from having zero knowledge to becoming a leader on her robotics team in just two years. Wow! A heartfelt thanks to Christian Rodriguez, my coworker and mentor for the G3 team, to Atlanta's 11Alive News for documenting this inspiring event, and to the Atlanta City Council and Metro Atlanta Chamberfor joining us. Re-emerging here to say that I have graduated from my undergrad at the School of Engineering and Applied Science at Columbia University with a degree in Computer Science, and I am so proud...but more importantly, I wanted to share my robot, Landshark. Please check out the journey video below!

Skyview Robotics hosted the 2025 FIRST Robotics Competition Kickoff event for more than 20 regional teams representing some 300 students, adult coaches and mentors. Skyview High School was just 1 of 141 sites around the world hosting kickoff events for other teams. Our guests were part of the 3,700 FRC teams worldwide watching the livestream announcement of this year's competition theme. Our guests were able to watch the livestream, pick up their official 'Reefscape' Kit-of-Parts, and/or participate in several workshops developed and facilitated by Skyview Robotics team members. These workshops aimed to help attending teams jump start their season by reviewing the game rules (we were lucky to have four FRC judges help with these discussions), discuss and plot robot designs and game play strategy, and participate in a live action field play simulation of the game. In the FIRST spirit of 'coopertition', students and mentors from the various teams present were assigned rotations through the workshops with members from other teams. This provided for opportunities to share creative ideas and begin the important work of networking. Time to get busy building robots! #FIRST #FRC #WAFIRST #Skyview #MrMapleDonuts
