This is really upsetting. The North Face should not be sponsoring athletes who are charged with crimes for violating Leave No Trace in some of our nation's most iconic national parks. This utter disrespect for public lands is social media at its worst. At the very least, TNF owes Grand Teton National Park a public apology and a hefty donation to make amends for spreading a horrible example of irresponsible outdoor recreation and willful disregard for basic trail etiquette. To The North Face: Please share how you will make changes and ensure this does not happen again. Here are some ideas: • Make LNT education mandatory for all your sponsored athletes. • Clarify that athletes who violate LNT ethics will no longer be sponsored. • Have athletes participate in more outdoor ethics awareness campaigns. • Make a significant donation to support public education at national parks about the importance of staying on trail.

What Does Being A Rider Mean These Days? Where does the horse factor in? Why do we see so many overbent horses? Why do so many people support abusive riding such as are occurring in this year's Olympics? Why has this become normal? Why have horses if you can't ride without harming them? Surely not something to be proud of? We must do better if equestrian activities are to be accepted by the general public. Abusing horses, either intentionally or unintentionally, is not, and should not be acceptable to ANYONE! Learn how horses work physically, mentally and emotionally. This is our responsibility as horse people! Join the revolution for a better world for horses at www.equitopiacenter.com and let's fix this through raising awareness, educating and advocating!

Florida's new policy allows high school athletes to profit from their name, image, and likeness (NIL), bringing both opportunities and legal complexities. With new rules on NIL endorsements, agent representation, and eligibility, athletes must navigate a changing landscape carefully to protect their future. Orlando Associate Nathaniel Otto highlights these changes and their potential impact here: https://bit.ly/49oiJxJ #ResultsThatMatter

💥 Why I Love RVCA 💥 If you’ve seen me around, you know I’m constantly rocking RVCA—whether I’m hitting the gym, running errands, or just out and about. There’s something about the brand that hits different. It’s understated yet intentional. It’s that "if you know, you know" vibe—and I love it. And the term they use—"advocates"—says it all. They don’t just feature a few of the best surfers and skaters out there; they give them a platform to be part of the RVCA story. But here’s the thing… ✨ Imagine scaling that concept from 9 advocates to 9,000. ✨ What if RVCA tapped into the passion of local surf town groms—those folks who live and breathe surf culture, who would jump at the chance to be featured, just because they love the brand? They don’t need a paycheck. They just need the chance to show off what RVCA means to them. That’s real brand advocacy. And that’s a movement I’d love to see. Brands like RVCA have the foundation—imagine what they could achieve by scaling that connection. 🚀 #RVCA #BrandAdvocacy #CommunityDriven #AdvocateMarketing #socialcommerce #DuelTech #SurfCulture

Reading about recent developments regarding UNLV and QB Matt Sluka has shed light on the need to enhance transparency in the NIL process. The informal nature of verbal agreements can lead to misunderstandings and misrepresentations. An assistant coach offered 100k(when it seems he did not even have authority to do so), but without a written agreement, there's no path forward for recouping the offer. UNLV mentioned no written agreement with the collective but has not denied a coach verbally offered it. Athletes should be diligent in choosing representation and the schools they decide to play for to avoid such situations. Written contracts safeguard athletes and schools' investments. This isn't a money grab by Sluka but a collective not honoring a coach's verbal offer to a player, a common issue. College sports, whether you like it or not is a business, and athletes and the institutions need to protect themselves. Hoping for greater transparency in the future! #NIL #Transparency #AthleteRepresentation

I PLEDGE my HEAD to clearer thinking, my HEART to greater loyalty, my HANDS to larger service, and my HEALTH to better living, for my family, my club, my community, my country and my world. This is the 4-H Pledge that youth and adults recite at the opening of each meeting. In the spirit of that pledge to clearer thinking, we ask “is there a future for 4-H in Sherburne County?” Last summer, the 4-H horse project funded and painted the barns to freshen them up for fair. Imagine the disappointment as everything the kids worked to prepare for was deluged with rain through the failing roofs on the horse barns as several waves of extreme weather occurred during fair week. The normal flurry of excitement was replaced with an all-out scramble to shift horses to higher ground and wait out the storm while also scrambling to save thousands of dollars’ worth of hay, feed, show clothes, tack and equipment. This is one of many issues that need to be addressed to deal with aging infrastructure and the future of the county fairgrounds. The county has indicated at various times the desire to sell and redevelop the property the fairground occupies. That constant fear of being evicted from the fairgrounds has not served the best interests of the youth or the community at large. Sherburne County businesses and residents are overwhelmingly supportive of 4-H programming when made aware of needs and how they can help. But who will invest in updating and improving the aging infrastructure of a fairgrounds under constant threat of eviction and redevelopment of the property? If the long-range plan is to relocate the fairgrounds, then please, let us begin the dialogue to plan out a timeline and details for beginning that endeavor. We need to at least work together to solve the immediate issues to serve our youth of today as well as plan for the future of our youth. If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Please, let us not fail our youth any longer. ~ Families of Sherburne County 4-H Note: this letter was sent to all Sherburne County commissioners. The purpose of this post is to raise awareness of safety issues at the Sherburne County fairgrounds. The video captures the July 22, 2023 storm at the county fair and a failing roof leaking into one of the tack/hay stalls. #safety #4H #fair #itsforthekids #horses Please contact your Sherburne County representative and let them know action is needed https://lnkd.in/gcwtPM3J

Since the NCAA halted investigations into NIL Collectives making deals with student-athletes, there are a lot of people running around with their hair on fire claiming that there are "no" NIL rules. Not true. There are about 40 states with NIL laws. There are other NCAA guidelines that impact NIL. There are state athletic association guidelines. There are federal agencies (like the FTC and IRS) that impact NIL. The rules of the road on NIL are not all about the NCAA.
