Normal life doesn’t resume until Monday and I’ve been focusing on some self care and trying to switch off- for those who know me they know this is very hard for me to do! I’ve spoken about the importance of the third sector to me especially during stressful life events of late. The work charities do isn’t necessarily as blatant as the help I received with childrens’ illnesses. Sometimes we are recipients without even realising. My Oura ring (product placement) tracks my stress levels, resilience and overall wellbeing. It won’t be of surprise to anyone that my stress levels and resilience scores have not made pretty reading for a considerable period. This morning my resilience has levelled up from the bottom level “limited” to “adequate”. Don’t get too excited- I’ve got another 3 levels to get through. This holiday period I’ve taken the pup pretty much every day to Val de la Mare arbotoreum. This has undoubtedly helped. The work Alex Morel and her team at Jersey Trees for Life have undertaken to make this place so tranquil and special clearly benefits the island. Alex’s daughter told me that she’s very proud of this and rightly so.
I love a little synchronicity.... I've just opened LinkedIn to share a post about stress and my Whoop health monitor and yours is the first post I see about the same thing! Now either that's one very clever algorithm or I was absolutely meant to see your post! I love Val de la Mare too and look forward to many more walks there this year. Happy new year!
Totally agreed. Sometime we do forget the need to switch off and take our own advice .❤️
Glad you are getting some well deserved downtime Alexandra Ruddy!
I went to the see the trees earlier in the year and have a walk with Alex who talked me through it all, it was neat 🤓

2dAhhh I miss the Arborteum. I’ve not been there for 3 weeks while are focused on re-planting the railway walk and the new woodland at La Moye. It is such a special place. Let do a tour of the rare, endangered and magnificant trees for IoD members. 🙌🏼🌳
