How do you obtain a PhD in AI/ML? If you are passionate about AI/ML and would like to develop your expertise in intelligent systems, you might consider continuing your development at a totally new level which is pursuing a PhD degree. The path to a dissertation is always individual, but three milestones are waiting for each of you! **Enrolling on a doctoral school.** Selecting and applying for a PhD programme may take several weeks or even months. It is good to check all the deadlines and required papers in advance. You might be required to write a proposal, complete a small research task or provide external language certification. However, if you are looking for a position starting in Autumn, you can still find some open positions at prestigious universities. An additional recruitment round for our doctoral school will be starting soon. Please see the details on the recruitment process for Doctoral School of the University of Wroclaw (https://szd.uwr.edu.pl/, https://lnkd.in/dWz7JwSP, https://lnkd.in/dY8pHdwt) or contact Piotr Lipinski for the details on joining our research group and working on AI/ML research. **Doing your research.** In Poland, you can enrol to a doctoral school to pursue the degree. But don't get confused by the naming. It is not about learning a lot of theory on what has been done and doing boring exercises. Your main aim is to do your research and learn how to be a scientist. Expect your daily tasks to be exciting, modern, creative and intellectually demanding. **Writing and defending your dissertation.** Having done a lot of cool research and published it in top journals and conferences, it is time to sum up your journey. Maybe we have oversimplified some steps, but the take-home-message is as follows: - the route to a PhD is fun - you will build a strong expertise - but first, you need to enroll ;) If you are interested in learning intelligent systems, join our team!

Our CEO, Kevin L., penned an op-ed in Fast Company about Halo’s National Science Foundation (NSF)-supported project that will leverage AI to bridge the gap between industry and academia at Emerging Research Institutions in the U.S. The project will address a critical challenge: while 95% of U.S. research universities are classified as Emerging Research Institutions, they receive only 10% of corporate research funding. Through AI-driven matchmaking, we're working to democratize access to groundbreaking research and foster partnerships that can drive innovation forward. Curious about how to prepare students to thrive in the era of AI? The #IGEHub project led by Misha Chertkov at University of Arizona integrates data science and AI into its Applied Mathematics PhD program. Collaborating with national and industrial labs, it equips a new cohort of researchers to tackle pressing global issues. The initiative includes modernizing the AM curriculum to meet national security needs and forming triads (student, university advisor, lab researcher) to offer PhD students broader career paths, especially in non-academic sectors. It aims to attract diverse talent and create a workforce ready for the AI-driven landscape, establishing a replicable model for other universities. Learn more at the IGE Hub: https://bit.ly/3JytnFO The IGE Hub is generously supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF).
