🌟 Celebrating Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) in My Practice! 🌟 As a psychologist, I’m continually seeking effective approaches to help my clients navigate their emotional landscapes. Recently, I’ve been integrating Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) into my practice. EFT is centered on the idea that understanding and processing emotions is crucial for healing. By fostering a safe space for clients to explore their feelings, I’ve seen transformations in their self-awareness and emotional resilience. 💡 Here are some things I’ve observed: Deeper Emotional Insight: Clients gain a clearer understanding of their emotions, leading to more meaningful insights into their experiences. Stronger Relationships: By learning to express and regulate emotions, clients report improved communication and connection with others. Empowerment: EFT empowers clients to confront and work through their emotions, enabling them to reclaim control over their lives. I’m excited to continue this journey with my clients, witnessing their growth and healing through this powerful therapeutic approach. Thanks to EFTin! #EmotionFocusedTherapy #EFT #Psychology #MentalHealth #ClientCare

𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐬 (or at least they should!) As therapists, we can be objective and clear when helping our clients navigate their challenges. But when it comes to our own stuff? Well, that’s a whole different story! 😅 Therapists have therapists because once we’re emotionally involved, our objectivity often flies right out the window. It’s part of the human condition: the minute emotions get involved, subjectivity takes over, and that clear-headed objectivity we pride ourselves on becomes elusive. That’s why it’s so important to seek support and guidance, even as professionals. It’s a reminder that we’re all human, all navigating our own journeys, and sometimes, we all need a little help to see things clearly. 💖 🌟 #HumanCondition #EmotionalJourney #SeekSupport #Psychology #Therapist

I (Patrick) recently read an intriguing psychoanalytically based article that emphasised the phrase 'working through' about difficulties people face and how therapy works. It made me pause to think about this term and how, in and of itself, it is pretty ambiguous. Of course, we do an in-depth analysis of terminology at Connexus Institute as part of our counselling and psychotherapy training, but I thought it warranted a social media post about what it means! Working through isn’t about quick fixes or moving on overnight. It’s more like peeling an onion—revisiting, exploring, and slowly understanding the layers of what’s really going on. It might mean examining old habits or recurring patterns, tracing them back to where they began, and discovering new ways to respond to life’s challenges. In Transactional Analysis, this could involve noticing our roles in relationships or the stories we tell ourselves—and questioning whether they still serve us. It’s not always easy, but it opens the door to greater freedom, choice, and connection. What about you? Does the idea of working through resonate with your own experiences? At Connexus Institute, we’re constantly engaging with ideas like this in our psychotherapy training. If this sparks your curiosity, why not join the conversation? #psychotherapy #transactionalanalysis #personaldevelopment #healingjourney #psychotherapytraining #workingthrough #therapytalk #personaltransformation

WE'D LIKE OUR FRIENDS TO LISTEN AND OUR THERAPISTS TO GIVE ADVICE, BUT OUR FRIENDS GIVE ADVICE AND OUR THERAPISTS LISTEN Although this concept may be frustrating, the truth is it's what's best Obviously therapist don't just listen, they guide you and do speak up when needed, but most of the work is done while listening and providing a platform to process your thoughts and feelings SOMETIMES, LESS IS MORE It's not always about finding the right thing to say. Just being there can be all that's needed at times It's not just about being knowledgeable, but using that knowledge in a wise way Being able to know when the wisdom is what's needed and when to be there in other ways USE YOUR KNOWLEDGE TO MAKE THE WISE CHOICE https://lnkd.in/ea5dqang #elisthoughts #mentalhealth #therapy #socialwork #lmsw #psychology #mindset #growth #experience #positivity #relationships #process #journey #wisdom #knowledge

When considering therapy, many wonder, “How will this really help me?” From a psychodynamic perspective, therapy offers more than symptom relief; it provides a space for deep reflection and personal growth 👇🏼 1. Reflecting on Your Inner World🧠: Psychodynamic therapy gives you time to explore and reflect on your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. This self-exploration helps uncover underlying patterns and provides valuable insights into your mental and emotional life. 2. Processing Unresolved Issues🤯: By delving into past experiences and unconscious conflicts, therapy helps you understand how they influence your current behavior and relationships. This process of working through these issues leads to meaningful change. 3. Active Participation🤓: In therapy, you actively engage in your own healing process. Your involvement in exploring and addressing your emotions is crucial for making progress and achieving deeper understanding. 4. Gaining Insight💡: As you explore your unconscious mind, you gain insights into how your past shapes your present. This awareness helps you alter maladaptive patterns and make more informed decisions. 5. Developing New Strategies📋: Reflecting on your experiences helps you develop new coping strategies and build emotional resilience, enabling you to handle challenges with greater ease. 6. Fostering Personal Growth🌲: Therapy supports not only resolving issues but also personal growth, leading to a more fulfilling and balanced life as you gain insights and work through conflicts. As a therapist, it's crucial to recognise your own triggers, especially when they hit close to home. Take some time to reflect on your belief systems—where they originated, how you perceive the world, and your interactions with others. These insights can offer valuable clues about what might be more challenging for you in your practice. Finding safe spaces to process the trauma you carry is essential. Whether it's during supervision sessions or seeking advice from trusted colleagues, having a supportive environment to explore your thoughts and feelings is key. How do you navigate recognising your triggers and finding safe spaces to process the challenges you face in your practice? 💚 #mentalhealth #psychology #therapists #supervision #mondaymotivation

Provisional Psychologist Tialara Harris enjoys using a values worksheet in session to help clients identify what is important to them. She has included a helpful brief on how she approaches this with her clients: "Values are your deepest desires for how you want to behave as a human. Values are not about what you want to get or achieve; they are about how you want to be on an ongoing basis; how you want to treat yourself, others, and the world around you. There are hundreds of different values on the list, you’ll find some common ones. Keep in mind there is no such thing as ‘right values’ or ‘wrong values.’ Feel free to create your own and add any values that are not on the list. - Start by selecting your top 10 values (don't spend too much time, go with your gut). Then you can prioritise each value from 1-10. - Next select your top five and briefly define what each one means to you. - Select your top three. Reflect on these values. You may wish to write down what comes to mind, as you do this." #elysiumpsychology #provisionalpsychologist #professionaldevelopment #resource #psychology #mentalhealth #therapy #values

Self-reflection is a powerful tool for personal growth, and asking ourselves the right questions can lead to profound insights. Each of these questions invites us to explore the depth of our relationships and the authenticity of our connections. Letting our walls down can be a courageous step toward vulnerability and openness. It allows us to foster deeper connections and encourages others to do the same. Being assertive about our needs is equally vital. It empowers us to express ourselves and seek the support we deserve. Focusing on our own needs isn’t selfish—it’s essential for our well-being. When we honor our own feelings, we create space for more genuine interactions with others. Sharing our vulnerabilities not only humanizes us but also inspires those around us to embrace their own authenticity. Engaging in interdependence builds community and connection, reminding us that we’re all in this together. At Journey Psychology, we believe that nurturing these aspects of our lives is crucial for emotional health and meaningful relationships.
