Many of our nonprofit clients have shared their struggle with the burnout and retention of their senior leaders. The Center for Effective Philanthropy's State of Nonprofits 2024 (https://lnkd.in/gX3wKZ3Y) reports that 95% of leaders surveyed expressed concern about burnout. 75% percent of those surveyed also report that leader burnout is impacting their organization’s ability to achieve its mission. I am curious how burnout might be impacting your leaders. On Friday, I had the incredible honour of being the keynote speaker for Empowered Leaders Resource Network (ELRN) - YMCA of the USA. During my 25-minute talk, I shared my career journey so far, but more importantly, I opened up about my battle with imposter syndrome as a 27-year-old CEO. Here’s a snippet from my speech: "Imposter syndrome can also have a ripple effect. When we doubt ourselves, it can make us hesitant to take risks, speak up in meetings, or put our ideas forward. It can hold us back from pursuing opportunities or stepping into leadership roles, which is why it’s so important to confront those feelings head-on. Without young voices, nothing will change. If businesses, charities, and communities are left with the same voices they’ve had for 30 years, how can we expect them to move forward? Speak up! Push past the feeling of not being enough and let your voice be heard. You won’t always get it quite right, but that’s a whole lot better than keeping it in."
