The Energy Year team in #Colombia met with Dr. Orlando Velandia Sepúlveda, president of the Agencia Nacional de Hidrocarburos (ANH), to talk about the incentives given to boost #exploration and #production activities by reactivating previously-suspended licenses while attracting junior “League B” E&P players into Colombia’s #upstream scene. The head of the ANH also highlighted the efforts the country is making to accelerate the #energy transition, underlining the importance of the first-ever wind and geothermal bid rounds celebrated in Colombia, which are due by the second half of 2024. Funding Secured for SCZONE Green Hydrogen and Ammonia Facility A grant has been secured from the PtX Development Fund to partially finance a green hydrogen and ammonia production development in the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), Ain Sokhna. This funding is part of a German initiative supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. 🌱 The project will be executed in two phases, featuring an electrolyzer capacity of 100 MW with an annual production target of 13,000 tonnes of green hydrogen. The facility will convert this output into 70,000 tonnes of green ammonia using renewable energy sources. ⚡ Additionally, solar and wind energy plants with a combined capacity of 270 MW will be established to power the operations, aligning with Egypt's goals for green energy and industrial decarbonization. The initial phase focuses on producing green fuel for ship bunkering services, with plans to generate 300 kilotons of green methanol annually.
