June is National Scleroderma Awareness Month, a time to educate and raise awareness about scleroderma and its effect on individuals and families. Scleroderma is a chronic autoimmune disease that causes hardening and thickening of the skin and internal organs due to excess collagen production. Scleroderma might also affect the digestive tract and blood vessels. While there is currently no cure for scleroderma, treatment can relieve symptoms and help improve quality of life.
