Coming up on six months in my new role! Part of my role involves project management and I have learned a few things through trial and error: 1. Even if people don't know or recognize it, they like structure. 2. Formal communication is more effective than side chatting everything. 3. Don't wait on things that can be done today. Tomorrow will thank you. 4. Work smarter, not necessarily faster. When you do the opposite of the things above, projects get messy. It helps when you work with a group of all-stars who support you and push you to become better. What things have you learned in your role lately? #learningprogrammanager #learninganddevelopment #projectmanagement

Did you land your first project management job overnight? . . . For me, it took some trial, error, and plenty of growth along the way! When I started out, I made mistakes, learned some lessons the hard way, and got better with every step. Here’s what really helped me build a career as a Project Manager. ✅Focus on Skills, Not Just Titles ↳ I stopped worrying about the perfect role title (I started out as a Project Coordinator) and focused on the skills and experiences that make an impact. This helped me stand out and grow faster than I expected. ✅Track Progress on Gaps ↳ I reviewed feedback after each project to find areas where I could improve. It’s easy to get comfortable, but identifying gaps and celebrating the small wins made all the difference. ✅Networking & Collaboration ↳ Connecting with others in the industry was huge. I built a network of mentors and peers who offered advice, and a fresh perspective when I needed it most. ✅Consistency & Staying Curious ↳ I set aside time to learn something new or revisit core project management skills. Consistency, even when it’s just 20 minutes, added up over time and helped me stay up-to date. If you’re looking to break into project management or level up, focus on the journey! It’s a marathon, not a sprint. Any of these resonate with you? Speaking of skills, here https://bit.ly/4fmckEN is a Free Project Management Skills Gap Analysis Checklist - identify your gaps and work on them, one skill at a time! #womeninpmnetwork #projectmanager #skills #projectmanagement

Ever wished you could go back in time and share some wisdom with your past self? 🕰️ ——————————————- Reflect on Your Journey: 🤔 ——————————————- Consider the key lessons you've learned as a project manager. What advice, insights, or encouragement would you share with your younger self just starting in project management? _______________________ Example Letter to Self: 📝 —————————————— Dear Past Self, As you embark on your journey in project management, here are a few lessons I've learned that I wish I had known back then: ➡️ Embrace Flexibility: Projects rarely go exactly as planned. Be prepared to adapt and pivot when necessary. Flexibility will be your greatest ally. 🌟 ➡️ Prioritize Communication: Clear and consistent Communication with your team and stakeholders is crucial. It prevents misunderstandings and keeps everyone aligned. 💬 ➡️ Value Your Team: A successful project manager isn't just about managing tasks; it's about leading people. Support, encourage, and trust your team—they are your greatest asset. 🤝 ➡️ Learn from Failure: Not every project will succeed, and that's okay. Embrace failures as learning opportunities and grow from them. 📈 ➡️ Balance Work and Life: Don't let the pressures of project deadlines overshadow your well-being. Maintain a healthy work-life balance to stay energized and focused. 🧘♂️ Keep pushing forward, stay curious, and never stop learning. Your journey will be filled with challenges but also immense growth and success. 🚀 Sincerely, [Your Future Self] __________________ Why Participate? 🌟 ——————————— Sharing your experiences and lessons can inspire and guide others in their project management careers. From Disappointment🥹 to Determination🤩: My Journey into Project Management 🙇♀️ As I reflect on my journey into project management, I'm reminded that sometimes the truth is that it's not always easy to get into a field that you're passionate about. In fact, I've found that it's not uncommon for entry-level positions to require experience - often 1 or 2 years or more 🥲. I'll be honest, I've faced my fair share of rejection and disappointment. Out of 10 job applications, I'd receive only 1 or 2 responses, and most of the time it was a ''no'' reply (you know what I mean). It was easy to feel discouraged and wonder if it was really worth the effort. But I've always had a soft spot for project management, and my curiosity and aspiration drove me to keep pushing forward. I realized that my path wouldn't be traditional, and that I would have to find alternative ways to gain the knowledge and skills I needed. So, I decided to take matters into my own hands🦸♀️. I recently completed the "Project Management Foundations" course by Bonnie Biafore, and I'm thrilled to say that it felt amazing to achieve this milestone💥! It's a reminder that with persistence and determination, we can overcome obstacles and achieve our goals. And for anyone who is just starting out in project management or anything that you are passionate about, don't be discouraged by setbacks. Keep learning, keep pushing, and you'll find your way. https://lnkd.in/eJnJMxgG #projectmanagement #ProjectManagement #CareerJourney #LearningAndGrowth #Determination PS. Oh my picture☺️! Well a burst of creativity happened after seeing the Canva Keynote 🤩🤣 100% recommended! https://lnkd.in/e6i9RbkK

It is 1st October, and today marks exactly 21 days since becoming active on LinkedIn. I wish I had made this decision earlier. I had a lot going on and usually had very little time left for online activities. But after transitioning fully into project management, I adjusted my priorities. During the first week here, I felt overwhelmed but sincerely not intimidated. It was majorly excitement for me; my first time being active on a platform that aligns so closely with my values, seeing so many professionals and having the opportunity to learn from them. I wish I hadn't procrastinated this long! Here's what I'm grateful for over the past month: - I obtained my Google Project Management certificate. - I'm currently working on a real-life project, applying my professional knowledge as a project manager. - I’m filling the skill gap through constant learning and successfully upgrading my technical skills. As a project manager, it’s important to have a good understanding across various industries. And guess who’s up to the task..😊 I understand it's not going to be all smooth, but I'm ready. ⭐️My goal is to boost sales and optimize project and product values through efficient project management, team management, stakeholder management, and ultimately, customer satisfaction. I'm very open to working in project management adjacent roles. Cheers to continuous learning and improvement! ⭐️🍾 #projectmanagement #projectmanager #projectmanagementroles #customersatisfaction #teammanagement #projectvaluesoptimization #productvaluesoptimization #stakeholdermanagement #revenuegrowth

Reflecting on what makes a great project manager, I'm reminded that it's more than just expertise in scheduling, budgeting, and team coordination. Great project managers possess a unique blend of leadership, communication, adaptability, and problem-solving skills. They're the glue that holds a project together, ensuring clarity of goals, motivating teams, and navigating challenges with resilience. As I strive to be the best project manager I can be, I'm committed to honing these essential traits. I actively seek opportunities to improve my leadership capabilities, enhance my communication skills, and cultivate a mindset of continuous learning and adaptability. Because being a great project manager isn't just about meeting deadlines and deliverables—it's about fostering collaboration, inspiring confidence, and driving success at every stage of the project lifecycle. Here's to constant growth and excellence in project management! #projectmanagement #adaptability #communicationskills #teamcollaboration #problemsolving
