Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil) faces the state's worst climate tragedy. This is very sad news about my country and any kind of help is important at this difficult time. I’m from South Brazil, where all this is happening and breaks my heart to see this tragedy from far away but at the same time, so close by hearing about it from my family and friends. The current situation is a lot worse there than it looks in videos and images. Up to this date, 70% of the municipalities have been affected by this catastrophe (374 of 497). So far, we are talking about a million people who have been impacted by the floods, with the governor declaring a State of Emergency for several counties, including Porto Alegre. Victims have lost everything, and with flash floods still a threat, the crisis is anticipated to worsen. There are believed to be between 60 million and 110 million unexploded land mines around the world today. These land mines are scattered across more than 60 countries with significant numbers in places heavily impacted by past conflicts, including countries in Africa, Asia, and Europe. The presence of these mines continues to pose a significant risk to the safety, health, and economic development of affected areas. Efforts to clear mines and assist affected communities are ongoing, but the process is slow, expensive, and dangerous. Some, like those fighting in Ukraine today, continue to make this number grow exponentially. Others, like Ryan Hendrickson and the team at Tip of The Spear Landmine Removal Inc., continue to risk life and limb to remove as many of these threats as is possible. Please SHARE their LinkedIn Page, LIKE Ryan’s Posts, and SPREAD the work they are doing to help make it possible to remove more and more of these threats, in Ukraine and globally!

June 8 th 2024 . World Oceans Day !!!! This year's World Oceans Day theme is "Awaken New Depths," with a focus on "Catalysing Action for Our Ocean and Climate." This year's World Oceans Day will emphasise advancing efforts to create a healthier planet and a more equitable society.# Our contribution begins with supporting conservation organizations through donations or volunteer work, practicing mindful water usage, adopting responsible waste disposal habits, engaging in community initiatives, and endorsing eco-friendly products. Even seemingly small actions, like conserving energy judiciously in our household, play a significant role in advancing these goals. Together, these steps can profoundly impact ocean preservation and mitigate the adverse effects of climate change #WorldOcansDay #BlueplanetConservation #Ecofriendlyliving.
🐠On #WorldOceansDay, we're looking back at a project that was launched with the Swiss Re Foundation’s support. The Nature Conservancy (TNC) and local partners began training brigades of local volunteers in Mexico to repair and restore storm-damaged portions of the Mesoamerican Reef. Later, the Foundation teamed up with TNC to scale in Belize, Guatemala, Honduras and Mexico. In this video, Victor Faux, a coral restoration practitioner from Belize, shares why he cares about the reef and how the brigades help conserve it. Victor is one of the nearly 50% of Belizeans who depend on the reef for coastal protection, their livelihoods or both. Find out more: https://ow.ly/uYS050SbCcp

Battersea is doing outstanding work by supporting 16 animal welfare organisations across South Africa. 🐕🐈 Through their Grants Programmes, they are helping these organisations connect with vulnerable communities that have limited or no access to resources to manage their animals. By funding mobile veterinary clinics and sterilisation services, they are providing vital care to animals while reducing the number of unwanted births - preventing the birth of animals that would have been at risk of becoming stray. This crucial outreach work empowers owners with the knowledge and access to services needed to become more responsible caregivers for their animals.
Through our Grants Programmes, Battersea proudly supports 16 incredible organisations in South Africa, which will help us reach over 400,000 animals in the country in the next three years. 🐶🐱 Our team recently visited South Africa to connect with these inspiring organisations, strengthening our partnerships and exploring new ways to support even more dogs, cats, and people. 💙 #CapeTown #SouthAfrica

Today we honor the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This year, we want to take action. Fresh Legal is committing ourselves to purchasing water for our office from FN Clean Water moving forward. All in-person clients will be offered still and sparkling canned water from this local, 100% Indigenous-owned company. A portion of FN Clean Water’s proceeds is donated to Water First to support clean water for First Nations. Water First collaborates with Indigenous communities in Canada to address local water challenges through education & training. Sustainable access to safe, clean water in Indigenous communities continues to be a pressing issue in Canada. Thirty Indigenous communities in Canada are under long-term boil water advisories, affecting thousands of people. Some communities have faced forced relocation and evacuation due to a lack of clean water. The health and living conditions of countless people have been severely impacted for many years. Our offices are located on the unceded and ancestral territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit, Anishinabewaki, Haudenosaunee, Wendake-Nionwentsïo, Mississauga, Mohawk, and Algonquin peoples, and this land has been stewarded by them since time immemorial. This land is still the home to many Indigenous people from across Turtle Island. They continue to act as stewards, and this responsibility extends to all peoples to share and care for this land for generations to come. Fresh Legal honours the peoples and land of what is now Ontario. 👉🏻 https://fncleanwater.ca/ 👉🏻 https://waterfirst.ngo/ #Ottawa #OttawaFamilyLawyer #OttawaLawyer #FamilyLawyer #Divorce #Separation #OttawaBusiness #Lawyer #LawPractice #Toronto #Perth #Mediation #SpouseMediation #NationalDayForTruthAndReconciliation
