Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil) faces the state's worst climate tragedy. This is very sad news about my country and any kind of help is important at this difficult time. I’m from South Brazil, where all this is happening and breaks my heart to see this tragedy from far away but at the same time, so close by hearing about it from my family and friends. The current situation is a lot worse there than it looks in videos and images. Up to this date, 70% of the municipalities have been affected by this catastrophe (374 of 497). So far, we are talking about a million people who have been impacted by the floods, with the governor declaring a State of Emergency for several counties, including Porto Alegre. Victims have lost everything, and with flash floods still a threat, the crisis is anticipated to worsen. There are believed to be between 60 million and 110 million unexploded land mines around the world today. These land mines are scattered across more than 60 countries with significant numbers in places heavily impacted by past conflicts, including countries in Africa, Asia, and Europe. The presence of these mines continues to pose a significant risk to the safety, health, and economic development of affected areas. Efforts to clear mines and assist affected communities are ongoing, but the process is slow, expensive, and dangerous. Some, like those fighting in Ukraine today, continue to make this number grow exponentially. Others, like Ryan Hendrickson and the team at Tip of The Spear Landmine Removal Inc., continue to risk life and limb to remove as many of these threats as is possible. Please SHARE their LinkedIn Page, LIKE Ryan’s Posts, and SPREAD the work they are doing to help make it possible to remove more and more of these threats, in Ukraine and globally!

Our hearts are shattered as we witness the devastation caused by torrential rains and flash floods in southeastern Spain. At least 95 souls have been lost, but this disaster’s toll goes far beyond numbers. It is a tragedy that resonates across Europe, impacting every one of us. In Chiva, near Valencia, over a year's worth of rain fell within just eight hours. Bridges have been swept away, cars torn from streets, and residents cling to anything that offers safety. It’s impossible to truly comprehend the scale of loss and destruction that has unfolded. To all those mourning loved ones, we share in your grief and extend our deepest condolences. To those fighting in these hours, know that you are not alone. Europe stands with you, ready to rebuild and support. More than 1,000 troops are on the ground, with emergency resources from across the EU being mobilized, including Copernicus Emergency Mapping. Together, we will rebuild and rise from this tragedy. #Spain

🔥As shown in the 2021 article 'Evacuating First Nations during Wildfires in Canada', during evacuations, social support from family and friends played a crucial role in helping evacuees cope with the stress. First Nation families are often large and multi-generational, with family members providing important sources of support and well-being. Unfortunately, families were split up during the evacuations of all First Nations that participated in this study, which added significant hardship. In some cases, families were split, with parents separated from children, grandparents from grandchildren, and entire families placed in different host communities. Despite the challenges, community liaisons worked hard to reunite families, and evacuees supported each other throughout the process. This highlights the importance of family connections and mutual support in times of crisis. To dive deeper into the obstacles faced during these evacuations, read the full article by Dr. Tara McGee as part of the FNWEP research: https://lnkd.in/gHAJmPQX #CommunitySupport #FNWEPresearch #EvacuationEfforts #WildfirePreparedness #ResearchInsights

Today we honor the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This year, we want to take action. Fresh Legal is committing ourselves to purchasing water for our office from FN Clean Water moving forward. All in-person clients will be offered still and sparkling canned water from this local, 100% Indigenous-owned company. A portion of FN Clean Water’s proceeds is donated to Water First to support clean water for First Nations. Water First collaborates with Indigenous communities in Canada to address local water challenges through education & training. Sustainable access to safe, clean water in Indigenous communities continues to be a pressing issue in Canada. Thirty Indigenous communities in Canada are under long-term boil water advisories, affecting thousands of people. Some communities have faced forced relocation and evacuation due to a lack of clean water. The health and living conditions of countless people have been severely impacted for many years. Our offices are located on the unceded and ancestral territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit, Anishinabewaki, Haudenosaunee, Wendake-Nionwentsïo, Mississauga, Mohawk, and Algonquin peoples, and this land has been stewarded by them since time immemorial. This land is still the home to many Indigenous people from across Turtle Island. They continue to act as stewards, and this responsibility extends to all peoples to share and care for this land for generations to come. Fresh Legal honours the peoples and land of what is now Ontario. 👉🏻 https://fncleanwater.ca/ 👉🏻 https://waterfirst.ngo/ #Ottawa #OttawaFamilyLawyer #OttawaLawyer #FamilyLawyer #Divorce #Separation #OttawaBusiness #Lawyer #LawPractice #Toronto #Perth #Mediation #SpouseMediation #NationalDayForTruthAndReconciliation

Join me in supporting this important acquisition, connecting protected lands around the Yantabulla wetlands:
📣 Exciting news! You can help us protect one of Australia’s least modified river systems. Nil Desperandum, meaning 'nothing is to be despaired of', is a stunning 4,037-hectare property that connects to our Naree Reserve and Yantabulla Station, which Bush Heritage protects with our partners, South Endeavour Trust. Acquiring Nil Desperandum will create a nature corridor of 35,000 hectares of managed land, helping to reconnect landscapes and support the thriving of native species. To buy and protect this unique place, we need to raise $2.6 million. 💚 Thanks to the generous support of two donors, every dollar you contribute will be matched up to $1.3 million! 👉 Follow the link to find out how you can make a difference: https://lnkd.in/gcShCW6 📷 Annette Ruzicka 📍 Budjiti Country, NSW #WeLoveNature #LandConservation #NSW #ProtectNature
