Voovo, a Budapest-based startup, has raised $500K in pre-seed funding to enhance its AI-powered flashcard app, which aims to make learning more efficient and engaging. The round was backed by Techstars, STRT Ventures, Peter Csillag, and Óbuda University’s Enture Capital Fund. Led by CEO Benedek Hermán, Voovo uses microlearning principles to break down complex topics into easy-to-learn chunks. The platform leverages spaced repetition and active recall to reinforce knowledge retention, helping students revisit and retain information over time. With this new funding, Voovo plans to expand partnerships with educational institutions, grow its user base, and further validate its model in real-world educational settings. Amazing week for London EdTech week so far… We know that Edtech presents unique opportunities and challenges for organisations so was great to meet with so many like minded people. We attended the Ufi Ventures networking evening last night where we met Ellie, David, Daniel Whiston, Liliana Upegui and many other inspiring entrepreneurs and investors! Today we spent the morning with techUK which included speakers Al Kingsley, Group CEO & Chair, NetSupport Limited & BESA Edtech Special Interest Group, Dave Smith, of Partnerships and Events, BESA - British Educational Suppliers Associationx Donald H Taylor, Lead Researcher, L&D Global Sentiment Survey and Helen Gironi, Director, Ufi Ventures - some brilliant discussion had around need vs demand. Then we spend the afternoon with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and MindCET- EdTech Innovation Center discussing AI and EdTech! Some of the Key points discussed across the last two days … -Improving student outcomes with tools that provide a well-rounded perspective. - Focusing on tech that meets needs rather than creating unnecessary demand. - Adapting to an economy shifting towards more employee-focused training. - Addressing the skills gap in large businesses by enhancing in-house training provisions. - The growing value of AI coaching and simulations for leadership training. - Emphasizing power skills over traditional soft skills to ensure long-term success. - Encouraging resilience and a sense of awe and wonder in learners. - Utilising AI tools effectively: "garbage in, garbage out." - Building strong B2B and B2G relationships, starting with client engagement and evolving to partnerships. - Navigating new regulations and the importance of earning trust in a non-transactional market. - GenAI and how we need to prepare and ready ourselves for it! All the panels provided a comprehensive view of the edtech landscape, highlighting the importance of strategic planning and relationship-building to succeed across diverse educational sectors.
