🇲🇽 COFECE found significant barriers to competition in marketplace platforms in Mexico. Market inquiries have been a historically weak enforcement tool, but this time, the authority is proposing that marketplaces like Amazon and MercadoLibre must: 💳 Separate the memberships for unrelated services (e.g., Prime Video, MercadoPlay) from core marketplace service and avoid advertising them together 🔍 Provide transparent access on how the algorithms for featured offers and buy-box work 📦 Avoid giving advantage in the search algorithm to those merchants using the platform’s logistics services Before COFECE’s board decides on the above measures (and to whom it will apply), all interested parties can provide information to the authority. Along with the practical implementation of these measures, it will also be interesting to see if they will have the same effects on the two major players in the Mexican market. 🌐

Is Poland’s e-commerce bracing for impact? AliExpress, one of the world's largest online marketplaces, has just opened up to Polish sellers. With no commission fees and access to marketing and business support, this development could provide a fresh boost to the dynamic Polish market. This move is another step by the Chinese juggernaut to strengthen its position in Europe, despite the ongoing European Commission probe against it over a possible breach of the Digital Services Act (DSA). For established brands, this change presents an additional channel to reach AliExpress's 9 million monthly users in Poland — without the higher fees seen on other platforms. This could help Polish companies offer more competitive prices while gaining exposure to international markets. While good news for Polish sellers, it spells troubling times for AliExpress biggest competitors in Poland, especially Polish companies like Allegro and Empik and even American giant Amazon. With Poland's e-commerce sector continuing to grow, businesses have a unique opportunity to explore new sales avenues while benefiting from the country's strategic location and infrastructure. Staying ahead of these developments, from a legal, compliance, and IP perspective will be key to long-term success. #poland #ecommerce #techlaw #aliexpress #digitaltransformation #innovation #legaltech #businessdevelopment #IP #legaladvice #chinesejuggernaut #amazon #dsa

The battle for e-commerce will be fought in #Hungary. The big players from Central and Eastern Europe will take care of it. What's going on? Mostly, it's that the Polish giant, marketplace Allegro, is planning to start selling on the Hungarian market. And they to plan to do so as early as winter 2024 or early 2025. What will this mean? The Hungarian e-commerce market is largely dominated by Alza.cz a.s., the Czech direct-selling retailer, the Romanian company eMAG, followed by Pepita.hu and MALL.HU, which is owned by Allegro. According to David Cikanek, from whom I first heard about this move (thanks David!), the assumption is that Allegro could gain up to 10% of the Hungarian market... It will certainly be interesting to follow this development... Do you have any aditional information or opinions on this situation in #Hungary? Let me know in the comments.

This information is very interesting, especially in the context of increasingly fierce competition in the e-commerce market. Poland's Allegro plans to enter the Hungarian market, indicating that they are expanding their business scope, which may trigger reactions from other competitors. A few points of analysis on this dynamic: Intensified market competition: Allegro's entry may disrupt the existing market structure, especially in the face of Alza.cz and eMAG, which already have a significant share in Hungary. The competition for market share will promote price competition and service optimization, which may be good news for consumers. Increased consumer choices: The diversified products and services provided by Allegro may bring more choices to Hungarian consumers and improve the shopping experience. Response of local e-commerce: Local retailers may increase marketing efforts or optimize products to maintain market share. We may see more promotions and customer loyalty programs. Market potential: If Allegro succeeds in obtaining a 10% market share, this may lay the foundation for their further expansion in Central and Eastern Europe, and may also attract other international e-commerce giants to pay attention to this market. It is worth continuing to pay attention to this dynamic and its impact on the market. Do you have any other views on this situation? Or is there any other information to share? #consumerelectronics #electronicsproducts

Dear Seller, As part of our ongoing efforts to enhance our seller experience, we are updating two UK TikTok Shop policies. What are we updating? We are excited to announce new policy updates that will help improve the seller experience for Seller Performance, Fulfilment & Logistics. Effective Date: From the 4th of November 2024, we are updating the following policies: TikTok Shop Seller Performance Evaluation Policy TikTok Shop Customer Order Shipping Policy What does this mean for you? ⏰ Seller Performance Evaluation Policy: This policy will be revamped to provide better clarity and simplicity on how we measure Seller Performance and how we may enforce against Sellers in case of violations of our TikTok Shop Terms and Policies. 🚚 Fulfilment and Logistics: We are updating the way we determine Late Dispatch Rate (LDR): Instead of Transit to Ship (TTS), the LDR will now be based on when the Seller has completed the Ready to Ship (RTS) (also known as To Ship-Awaiting Collection status) within 2 working days of order creation. This change will eliminate delays caused by courier handover issues affecting LDR. The platform will now track the validity of tracking numbers (VTR) in the Ship by Seller option. Sellers can monitor their VTR performance in the Seller Centre and will be provided feedback based on this. We are excited to roll out these new changes to improve your experience with us!
