Happy to share that my last PhD project has been published 2 days ago as an Editor’s choice paper in ACS Catalysis. In this publication, we were able to disentangle the pitfalls of the RDE-based #OER stability assessment. When determining the stability of an OER catalyst, large discrepancy between RDE and MEA are observed. Debates are ongoing on whether this discrepancy is due to bubble accumulation within the porous structure of the catalyst or to the degradation/passivation of the substrate material (backing electrode material). By means of an inverted RDE-based approach and targeted experiments, we finally could determine the interplay of those two processes and their relative impact on the intrinsic and operational material stability. Check out the paper to find out what is the main reason for the observed discrepancy between RDE and MEA: bubble accumulation or substrate degradation/passivation? https://lnkd.in/en55bCjV This project which started 2 years ago is carried out in collaboration with the group of Prof. Peter Broekmann. Thanks to all the co-authors, to my supervisor, Prof. Matthias Arenz, and especially to Dr. Pavel Moreno-García for the wonderful and fruitful work together!
Congratulations 😊
Congratulations, Aline and Pavel, to your great work.
