From understanding the end-to-end process of cargo handling to the importance of timely and efficient delivery, every piece of information was immensely valuable. Mr. Adhawade's guidance on the operational challenges and solutions in freight forwarding provided a real-world perspective that textbooks and lectures often can't capture. He emphasized the significance of precision and coordination in logistics, which are crucial for maintaining the flow of goods across global supply chains. Five months into my first ever sales role at Kuehne+Nagel, I've just hit 135 tons of new Airfreight! To some this may not sound like a big number, but to me it is huge. Reflecting on my journey, from being a nervous first-time mum hesitant about returning to work with a 5 month old, to embracing a new role with no experience in sales, it's safe to say I’m proud of myself (despite my imposter syndrome). Building relationships, spending days on the road, and countless evenings responding to emails whilst doing the night feeds. I'm most proud of the connections I've formed and the customers I’ve helped. My motivation stems from aiding businesses in streamlining their supply chains, making cost-effective decisions, and navigating a market where the rules of play are ever-changing. This experience has taught me that you should never underestimate your abilities due to a lack of experience or because of fear of a job title. It's all about attitude and adaptability. As David's expertise flourished, so did his responsibilities within our organisation. BIL EXPANDS ITS PRESENCE IN THE EASTERN CAPE BIL recently expanded its presence in the Eastern Cape by investing in a third branch in #Gqeberha. Director Marcus Ellappan explains, “The integration of our #roadfreight and #warehousing operations last year enabled us to optimise resources, expand operations and diversify our #supplychain services. We have invested in the new facility, which offers more space and the opportunity to increase our product offering, as well as cater for long-term growth.” Ishan Hutheram, GM Cape Region, elaborates, “We identified an ideal property in the heart of the Deal Party area, strategically located 15 km from the #Coega port and 10 km from the #harbour and #car terminal, offering clients a centralised hub for cargo operations. “BIL’s Gqeberha footprint comprises a 10 000 sqm #chemical facility, catering for both hazardous and non-hazardous storage and handling services. The additional facility adds approximately 22 000 sqm of covered (warehouse) and under-covered (yard) warehousing solutions and is fully compliant for storage and distribution of FMCG products. It will also cater for our #telecommunications customers to store and distribute networking equipment. A #fleet of vehicles, ranging from 1-tonners super-links, complements our service offering.” Hutheram adds that due to the size of the yard, BIL can facilitate vehicle and container loading, offloading and storage solutions. This secure area is also suitable for the #automotive market, where BIL plays a major role in supply chain services. "We also maintain a robust presence in East London, where we are conveniently situated 1,5 km from the harbour and car terminal. Our warehousing facilities cover 8 000 sqm for various commodities, including chemical. Our distribution fleet comprises various vehicle configurations to complement our service offering."
