[What if prednisone does not work for childhood nephrotic syndrome?] If prednisone does not work for your child or if the side effects are too uncomfortable, the doctor may order another kind of medicine called an immunosuppressant. This drug decreases the activity of the body's immune system and is effective for most children. Your doctor can discuss in detail the good and bad aspects of immunosuppressants. The side effects of these drugs include increased susceptibility to infection, hair loss and decreased blood cell production. Parents also should be aware that children taking immunosuppressive drugs may become ill if they are exposed to chickenpox. Therefore, you should notify your doctor immediately if your child is exposed to chickenpox while on these medications. Your child might be given diuretics (water pills). Diuretics help the kidney rid the body of salt and water. The most common water pill for children is called furosemide. If you don't want your child to suffer from the side effects of Western medicine, Chinese medicine will be a good choice. It can help repair kidney damage and reduce proteinuria without any side effects. Moreover, Chinese medicine can greatly reduce the relapse of nephrotic syndrome. #NephroticSyndrome #prednisone #chinesemedicine

Clostrum @10% of B.W in 1st hr of birth is most important for life time survival of Calf. It contains IgG Antibodies from mother that provides immunity to Calf. As calf's own immune system is not active at time of birth. Problem: Sometimes, Calf does not give suckling reflex or unable to feed clostrum through feeder due to mandible injury which may be a result of dystocia handling during Calving. Solution: Calf should not be forced to feed clostrum through nipple because it can cause drenching. So Oro-Gastric Intubation (stomach tube) is passed to directly feed calf. Precaution: Make sure, Stomach tube does not enter trachea otherwise calf will not survive if clostrum enters into lungs through trachea. #CalfRearing #CalfNutritionExpert #CalfManager #ColostrumIntake #StomachTube #OroGestricIntubation #DrUsamaMUnir

Why do central nervous system barriers host a diverse immune landscape? The meninges in vertebrates comprise three layers (dura, arachnoid, pia mater), representing an important barrier surrounding and protecting the central nervous system (CNS). The most exterior CNS barrier, the dura mater, is unique because it resembles a peripheral tissue. It hosts a rich immune landscape, lymphatic vessels, and fenestrated vasculature, allowing microbes and other threats from the blood to extravasate into the meninges, potentially reaching the underlying CNS. The highly specialized large venous drainage system in the dura is especially susceptible to infection.
