In a small village in Afghanistan, a young girl named Amina wakes up before dawn every day. Her mission is simple but vital: to fetch water for her family. The journey to the nearest water source is long and arduous, often taking hours under the scorching sun. The water she brings back is murky and unsafe, but it's all her family has. Amina dreams of going to school, but her responsibilities keep her away. The dirty water she gathers frequently makes her and her siblings ill. In Afghanistan, only 27% of the population has access to safely managed drinking water services, according to the World Bank. This means millions of people, like Amina, are left to drink contaminated water, leading to widespread disease and hardship. Despite these challenges, there is hope. The Farzana Foundation is working tirelessly to build wells and provide clean water to communities in need. Amina's village is one of the lucky ones. Recently, a new well was constructed, bringing fresh, clean water just a short walk away. For the first time, Amina and her family can drink without fear of illness. The impact is profound. Amina can now attend school regularly, and her family’s health has improved dramatically. Access to clean water has changed their lives. Yet, many more villages still wait for this basic necessity. In Afghanistan, the need is urgent. Every well built brings hope and health to another community, helping to break the cycle of poverty and illness. By supporting these efforts, we can ensure that every child has the chance to dream and thrive, just like Amina. #communityempowerment #nonprofit #Safewater #afghanistan #humanitarianaid #Buildwells

Humanitarian response attempts face many challenges and obstacles, but despite all these challenges, grassroots and social initiatives such as emergency rooms, hospices, and charity kitchens - with the support of philanthropists and some organizations - continue to provide food aid to many citizens exposed to hunger and diseases resulting from malnutrition. We repeat in the campaign (A corridor that saves a soul) Calling donors, organizations and those interested for more support, and the Sudanese government to open corridors and facilitate procedures for the passage of aid, and to all parties to the conflict in order to facilitate passage, so that we avoid the catastrophe of famine #humanitarian_corridors_save_lives#humanitarian_corridors_save_lives

The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) has found that 25.6 million people across #Sudan will likely experience high levels of acute food insecurity (IPC Phase 3 or above) between June and September 2024. We must not forget that this is also a child protection crisis. When food is scarce and families are forced to flee their homes, children, especially girls, are often at greater risk of gender-based violence and being taken out of school. To save as many lives as possible, all forms of humanitarian support must be scaled up, now. And most crucially, NGOs need unimpeded humanitarian access to all communities, across all of Sudan, so that we can reach children and their families. Thousands of Syrian refugees who once sought safety in Lebanon are now being forcibly displaced back to Syria due to the escalating conflict. More than a quarter of a million people are estimated to have crossed into Syria to escape the growing dangers in Lebanon, including both Lebanese and Syrian families. Some have reported being forced to pay large sums of money to reach their destinations, with no money left over for basic necessities. Needs in Syria are now at their highest since the conflict began 14 years ago - a situation likely to deteriorate with the arrival of more displaced people. Meanwhile, only a quarter of the funding required to meet the existing needs in Syria has been secured. The IRC has been working in Syria since 2012, providing lifesaving health care and protection services. It has been nearly a year since the new conflict erupted in Sudan. But even as this tragedy wages on, we are hopeful. This Easter Season, we think of God’s sacrifice, and continue to follow the call to not give up — but to hold on with hope, to pray, serve, and love our neighbors in Sudan. Before this new conflict began last April, the region faced grim statistics – nearly 7 million school aged children were out of school, 3 million children under age 5 suffered from malnutrition, and more than 3 million women and girls faced the imminent threat of gender-based violence. In an already precarious situation, violence has devastated the region further. Join us in our mission to spread awareness of what’s being called the “Forgotten War.” These children and their suffering are anything but forgettable. VLOG: Charity Lukaya, Humanitarian Director Save the Children in Afghanistan: As Afghanistan prepares for a #severe winter, communities already facing the aftermath of flooding and ongoing food insecurity are bracing for even more hardships. Save the Children has launched an anticipatory action and emergency scale-up plan to support approximately 18,000 households across nine provinces. The plan focuses on providing support in health and nutrition, education, child protection, mental health & psychosocial support, and cash assistance to help families with heating costs and other urgent needs.
