Halloween is around the corner and smiles are everywhere this year. Joining the traditional carved pumpkin grins, we launch the sequel to 2022’s supernatural horror flick Smile with 'Smile 2' from Paramount Pictures. Promising to be a bigger, scarier, superior sequel with a parasitic demon that grins from ear to ear - what's not to love? It's out in cinemas today so well worth checking out if you love your gore and horror. A big thank you to Wavemaker and Paramount Pictures.

JUST REVEALED: the latest trailer for TRANSFORMERS ONE, coming to theaters September 20 from Hasbro Entertainment and Paramount Pictures 🤖 “Hasbro gave me the bible of Transformers, this Tolkien-length history – so much to play with, a huge sandbox. I wanted the feeling of what it was like to play with the toys as a kid, that feeling of nostalgia and joy trying to make these things work," says director Josh Cooley. MARTIN GROVE'S TRACKING BUZZ: Disney/20th Century Studios' "KINGDOM OF THE PLANET OF THE APES" has just hit the tracking and is already a safe bet to find gold in the boxoffice jungle. Its best first choice score is with over-25 men, who are 10 points over norm. Next best demo: over-25 women (four points over norm). Definite interest scores are also topped by 25+ men (17 points over norm). Under-25 men are next best interested (12 points over norm). Demo that's definitely not interested is (predictably) under-25 women (eight points over norm). Now playing below -- our ZAMM Cam Preview of KINGDOM where a tyrannical ape builds an empire and a young ape questions all he knows of the past, making choices to define the future for apes -- and humans. Opening in theatres 5/10. #movies #boxoffice #martingrove #kingdomoftheplanetoftheapes

The upcoming Joker: Folie à Deux is already one of the most talked-about films of the year, but not for all the right reasons. Early reviews from the Venice Film Festival have been mixed, leaving fans and critics uncertain about its box office potential. This might remind DC fans of the ill-fated The Flash, which failed to capture audience interest despite heavy hype. Back in 2019, Joker became a box office juggernaut, overcoming initial skepticism and mixed reviews to dominate theaters. However, while the first film had mostly positive word-of-mouth from its Venice premiere, the sequel is getting much more divided reactions. Adding to the uncertainty is Joker 2's bold choice to make it a musical, a decision that has already raised eyebrows among fans of the original dark, gritty narrative. With weeks to go before its official release and ticket bookings already open, the big question remains: Can Joker: Folie à Deux recreate the unexpected success of its predecessor, or will it be another DC misstep? Only time will tell if audiences will flock to theaters or wait for the streaming release. Friday Film Club: Scrooged – A Festive Reminder of Connection, Redemption, and Holiday Cheer Welcome back to Friday Film Club! As someone who adores Christmas the magic, the togetherness, and the joy of curling up with family after a big festive lunch Scrooged is one of my favourite holiday classics. It’s a brilliantly quirky retelling of Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, infused with modern wit and mischief that leaves you laughing and reflecting in equal measure. At its core is Frank Cross, portrayed with razor-sharp humour by Bill Murray. Frank is a cold, cynical TV executive who has turned Christmas into nothing more than a commercial spectacle. Self-centred and disconnected, he’s entirely missing the point of the season. Cue the arrival of three unconventional Christmas spirits, determined to lead him through his past, present, and future to rediscover the joy and connection he’s lost. The film beautifully balances humour and heartfelt truths, exploring what happens when we let ambition and apathy overshadow the relationships that truly matter. Through Frank’s journey, Scrooged delivers a powerful reminder that even in our most selfish moments, we have the capacity for growth and transformation. From a positive psychology perspective, this is a story of redemption and the rediscovery of purpose. Frank’s vulnerability and eventual embrace of kindness highlight the importance of generosity, and connection. His shift from isolation to openness shows that true fulfilment comes not from success or power but from meaningful relationships and selfless acts. At its heart, this film speaks to the essence of being human – the messy, imperfect moments of self-realisation and the courage it takes to change. It reminds us that no matter how far we’ve strayed, we can always choose to reconnect, to show kindness, and to make a difference in the lives of those around us. If you’re looking for a holiday film that blends sharp humour with a heartfelt message, Scrooged is a perfect choice. Gather your family, enjoy the festive glow, and remember: Christmas isn’t about the presents under the tree it’s about the people around it. https://lnkd.in/eG5KHD6H

Halloween is less than a day away, which means horror movies are making their rounds. But what are the lesser-known elements of the horror genre? The horror genre is often associated with the explicit: monsters, blood, ghosts, screams. Yet, some of its most powerful moments lie in the unseen or lesser-known aspects of horror. This could be the quiet tension, the sound of a distant creak, the shadow of something familiar yet wrong. All of these things engage our imaginations in profound ways. Hitchcock was a master of this, using suspense rather than surprise to let fear simmer. Suspense allows an audience to project their own inner fears onto the unknown, which can be more profound than any jump scare. The power of subtlety and restraint in horror invites us, as creators, to trust in the audience’s imagination. Instead of showing everything, it can be far more haunting to let the shadows do the storytelling. By embracing what we don’t show, we open the door to an uneasiness that can leave audiences on the edges of their seats. #Halloween #ElementsofHorror #HorrorGenre
