A new European Union consortium aims to create a new multi-hub Test and Experimentation Facility for edge #ai Hardware 💡. [Event] 📢 Yesterday, during Demo Day 2024, organized by CentraleSupélec at the STATION F, Philippe Notton, CEO and founder of SiPearl, took part in a panel with Agata C. Hidalgo (Public Affairs Lead at France Digitale), Frederic Pascal (Director of the Institut DATAIA Paris-Saclay) and Denis B. (co-founder and CEO of Finegrain) about Generative #AI "New uses and New Frontiers". 🔎 They tackled the following topics: - the impact on business - issues of sovereignty and technological independence for France - our strengths in education, research and infrastructure #SiPearl is building the European high-performance low-power microprocessor dedicated to #supercomputing and #AI inference. This new generation of #microprocessors will first target EuroHPC Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU) ecosystem, which is deploying world-class supercomputing infrastructures in Europe for solving major challenges in medical research, security, energy management and climate with a reduced environmental footprint. SiPearl is working in close collaboration with its 30 partners from the European Processor Initiative consortium - leading names from the scientific community, supercomputing centres and industry - which are its stakeholders, future clients and end-users. AI Growth Spurs Demand for Energy-Efficient Data Solutions: Photonics Leads the Way at #ECOC 2024 As artificial intelligence (AI) continues to expand, so does the need for faster, more efficient data processing. At the European Conference on Optical Communication (ECOC) 2024, the photonics industry highlighted the game-changing potential of photonic integrated circuits (PICs). These advanced chips promise to tackle AI's skyrocketing data and energy demands by significantly boosting speed while reducing power consumption. Several companies showcased their innovations at ECOC 2024. Jabil is expanding its silicon photonics capabilities to enable next-gen data centres, while start-ups like Lightium are pushing boundaries with thin-film lithium niobate (TFLN) PICs, which can dramatically improve data transmission rates and cut energy use. HyperLight's $37M Series B funding will accelerate its TFLN technology, designed specifically for AI-driven data centres. Meanwhile, Swiss start-up Lightium raised $7M to commercialise TFLN chips, addressing the growing data bottleneck. Ephos, introducing glass-based quantum photonics, is aiming to reduce energy consumption in AI and quantum computing by tackling signal loss issues, backed by $8.5M in seed funding. Our own Riccardo De Monte attended the 10th IEEE International Conference on Control, Decision and Information Technologies in Malta! At the conference, we presented collaborative work between AMCO Lab - UniPD and Infineon Technologies (Filippo Boni, Dr. Yao Yang, Dr. Natalie Gentner, Joon Khim Low and Gian Antonio Susto) on 'Enhancing Predictive Analytics in Semiconductor Manufacturing: A Deep Learning Approach for Overall Equipment Efficiency Estimation'. In the work, we demonstrated how OEE can be successfully forecasted thanks to deep learning architecturs even in the complex scenarios of semiconductor manufacturing. #artificialintelligence #deeplearning #ieee #semiconductormanufacturing
