A few years ago the Knowledge & Human Development Authority in #Dubai published a landmark report entitled "The Gift of Good Governance". I remember reading it with interest, and found myself time and time again thereafter noticing all around the world what appeared to be a remarkable correlation between education organizations that are steadily and consistently successful over the long run and what I found myself recalling as "the gift of good governance". I also came to ask myself more questions about what makes governance good: is there a model, or a set of models, that are universally good? Or do different countries, cultures, contexts need and welcome different paths through which institutions can be governed sustainably well? Educationally, as I do politically, I personally favour the latter perspective. Education institutions can be governed well in many ways. But some elements seem core: the upholding of a clear vision and mission as an institutional compass, rational and data-driven decision making, the appreciation of technical expertise, and structures that outlive individuals. I have recently been asked to join the iGNIS Network, a new initiative under the leadership of RSAcademics and Russell Speirs, as an Advisory Board member. Its global outlook and membership base are exactly what we need these days. I am very excited to discuss, share and compare perspectives on governance with stakeholders from all around the world. If you want to be part of the debate, please check it out give me a shout. #GlobalEducation #EducationalLeadership #SchoolGovernance #EdLeadership

She is a native speaker of three languages (English, Spanish and Italian) and she regularly features in international education publications and is a sought-after speaker at global education conferences. When asked why she wanted to be involved in iGNIS, Beatrice explained: “Over the years, I have come to see time and time again the vital role that good governance plays in ensuring the sustainable success and legacy-building of schools, especially when facing significant disruptions - such as the global pandemic we all experienced. Knowing RSAcademics and how well they support schools globally, I'm thrilled about the launch of iGNIS and eagerly anticipate the opportunities for learning, sharing, and collaboration that it will bring.". Thank you Beatrice for helping make iGNIS a vital part of the international schools ecosystem. Beatrice joins Sir Christopher Stone on our Advisory Board whom we announced last week. iGNIS Network
