It's crucial for facilities housing hundreds or thousands of people to have armed professionals, including canine officers, to detect and respond to potential threats effectively. In today's world, we can't afford to be complacent. I see many organizations bypassed that thought process and only react when something occurs after that it is too late. It's time to acknowledge that the battle for security could be imminent. With Thanksgiving right around the corner, I am so thankful for the Arapahoe Rescue Patrol, Inc. (the only high-school-run search and rescue team in the US) and what they do to support the state of Colorado. Check out the 9 News on NBC story about ARP helping with the recent snowstorm: https://lnkd.in/gRfvXU9v I was on the patrol for 4 years, and it changed my life. Now, I am a Board Member for ARP, and I could use your help. It takes about $58,000 a year to run the patrol from Insurance, vehicle maintenance, gear, training, etc. It is estimated that it would cost a government agency over $1M a year to duplicate the services donated by the Patrol to the community and Colorado. All 50+ high school students/ members and other board members are volunteers. There is never a charge for Search and Rescue service in CO – 24/7/365. ARP only survives through donations. Until December 31st, The Norin Foundation is going to match every monthly/ RECURRING donation of up to $20,000 in matching funds, which would make a significant impact on our patrol. 🪖📚 May 30th, 2023 was the first day Books for Boots shipped off books for injured recruits to their first basic training location. Over the past year, we have shipped out over 2,382 books, 1,278 movies, 292 CD's, 117 puzzles, and lots of craft items!! This has helped establish mini-libraries at FOUR basic training locations for both injured recruits and their leadership members to have on hand in medical rehab units. 📦 We currently have 900+ books, 300+ movies, 150+ CD's cleaned, sorted, boxed, and ready to ship pending approvals and financial donations for shipping costs. 📚 For those interested in donating items: Books for Boots has a designated drop off location - Pelican Medical Wellness Center in Pelican Point / Gonzales which happens to be a Veteran owned business.
