When is a benefit regarded as unclaimed? If a benefit remains unpaid for 24 months after it becomes legally due and payable to a member, it becomes unclaimed. Such unclaimed benefits will be retained within a preservation fund until the legal beneficiaries have been identified and verified. #5YearsOfExcellence #UnclaimedBenefits #ServiceExcellenceAssured

A very useful overview, indeed, and a warning at the end: we are nearing a turning point where climate litigation is expected to intensify, and attribution science is significantly improving (see for instance https://lnkd.in/emrY7qwe) The best way to avoid liability is to prepare viable and verifiable transition plans. #climatechange; #climatetransition; #climatelitigation; #litigation

#TrusteeDisputes My conversation with Jennifer Marley @birkettsllp about Charity Board Disputes is now online on YouTube. Whilst they're rarely pleasant, you cannot do an ostrich impersonation about them...and need to utilise tools from the Dispute Resolution toolkit to help you tackle them, not least as they're unfortunately on the increase. Our conversation gives some insights into the matters we work on and shares some tips and pointers as to issues to look out for and how to deal with them, for as cliched as it is...prevention and early intervention are better than cure! #Charity #Charities #CharityBoardDisputes #Trustee #TrusteeTraining https://lnkd.in/e8CHQfrz

OneFamily has been campaigning with Andrew Turner for four years for the government to make simple changes that would help young people who lack the mental capacity to access their child trust fund savings. Currently, their families have to undertake a difficult, lengthy and sometimes expensive application to the Court of Protection, which can be very stressful. To support these young people and their families, we have put in place a simplified process to help them. Andrew and his son Mikey explain the problem and how companies like OneFamily have helped. #ChildTrustFund #ChildTrustFundAccessCampaign #CourtOfProtection

Dear MAGA Republicans, How are things? Today was quite the whirlwind—tariffs on Canada and Mexico coupled with Walmart’s announcement that it’s scrapping its DEI programme. Personally, I’m unfazed. DEI programmes have often been performative, doing more for corporate PR than for real change. But this brings me to the real point of this note: While I understand you’re not fans of ESG, the end of DEI is not the end of ESG. You see, the social part of ESG, the ‘S’, was never supposed to just be DEI. And together, we can encourage corporations to redirect DEI funds toward combating human trafficking. Imagine the impact if these DEI millions were used to: - Fund anti-trafficking organisations that rescue and rehabilitate survivors. - Audit corporate supply chains to identify and eliminate forced labour. - Support trafficking task forces by providing resources for law enforcement to dismantle trafficking networks. - Invest in victim support services such as mental health care, housing, and job training. - Launch public awareness campaigns to educate employees and consumers about trafficking risks. Now I know some of you MAGA supporters have been vocal about trafficking for years. This is your chance to turn that energy into meaningful action by holding corporations accountable. Why not encourage them to prioritize anti-trafficking efforts and demand transparency about where their budgets are going???? This isn’t just a moral imperative—it’s a chance to create tangible change and protect lives. With your pressure, corporations can’t ignore the call to do what’s right. It’s time to rethink priorities. Are we ready to demand action where it truly matters? #Accountability #HumanTrafficking #CorporateResponsibility #ImpactOverOptics
