The Port of London Authority is calling on communities in Wandsworth, Barking and Dagenham, and Havering to share their ideas and ambitions for the River Thames in their area. All responses will be used by the PLA to inform its Tidal Thames Masterplan, which seeks to increase the river’s use for communities, businesses and recreation, as well as enhance its natural environment. Mike Atkins, Senior Planner at the PLA, explained: “We’re keen to give local people a chance to voice their opinions to guide future investment decisions that relate to the river in their area. Therefore, we want to encourage people who live in Wandsworth, Barking and Dagenham, and Havering, to consider the Tidal Thames Masterplan and put forward their thoughts and ideas on what should be included. We will also be engaging with the Greater London Authority, the Environment Agency, landowners and river-based businesses.” Learn more and have your say ➡️ https://hubs.la/Q02_LyZd0 #RiverThames #London #Kent #Essex #ThamesEstuary #PortOfLondon #ThamesVision2050 #TradingThames #NaturalThames #DestinationThames

Stirling Council has confirmed the Christie Clock will be re-built in line with the recommendations of expert conservators. At a full meeting of council today (Thursday, 12 December), councillors approved a proposal that will retain as much of the original stonework from the local landmark as possible. We're pleased to announce the completion of the Brighton & Hove Green Infrastructure Study, commissioned by Brighton & Hove City Council. LUC, working with Peter Massini at Future Nature Consulting, undertook this project to understand and improve the city's network of green infrastructure (GI). 🌳🏡 GI includes parks, green corridors, and natural spaces that provide vital benefits for the environment and residents. A key part of the study explored the potential application of an Urban Greening Factor (UGF) policy for the city. Our work involved testing Natural England’s UGF model policy on a range of developments to strengthen the evidence base for an innovative UGF policy for Brighton & Hove. The UGF seeks to promote the delivery of good quality GI by considering factors such as the amount, type, and location of green space, primarily within urban contexts. The study also reviewed existing GI provision across Brighton & Hove. This helped identify areas with limited green space and those in particular need of enhancement. Brighton & Hove City Council will use the study's findings to develop policies for strengthening GI planning. This will ensure the city has a network of high-quality GI that meets the needs of both people and wildlife. The recommendations will be included to inform the review of the City Plan, to create a greener and more sustainable Brighton & Hove for the future. #Brighton #GreenInfrastructure #GBI #GreenSpace #UrbanGreeningFactor #CityPlan

The project is funded under Thrive, which aims to re-imagine town centres and to transform publicly owned vacant or derelict heritage buildings within those town centres through renovation, renewal, and adaptive reuse. “There is a possible €7m investment opportunity here for a project in Drogheda and it would be great to get that funding. There is so much the town needs and this would be a great start,” chamber CEO, Hubert Murphy, stated.
