Our first-ever Supplier Sustainability Summit is a wrap, and we're still buzzing with excitement. A huge thank you to our amazing suppliers who joined us virtually from around the world, and to our Infineon team who worked tirelessly to bring this event to life.   The purpose of our summit was to exchange best practices in CO2 reduction in order to bring the whole semiconductor value chain forward. Our Chief Digital and Sustainability Officer, Elke Reichart, set the tone by highlighting the importance of science-based targets. I shared the tremendous progress that we achieved over the past years by engaging our top suppliers. Philipp Dürr shared his expertise on renewable energy and two of our valued suppliers, Amkor and Sumco, gave insight in how they are approaching SBTi. Our Head of Sustainability, Corinna Wolf, along with our Procurement Leaders Silke Sorger, Young Im and Franziska Zengerle and CDP Global Lead Transition Accelerator, Amelie Tan, shared some insightful ways to overcome challenges. The stars of the show were our suppliers who are truly leading the way in sustainability. A special congratulations to our Green Award winners: AppliedMaterials, Sumco, and Iwis! Thank you for joining us on this journey and inspiring us with your achievements. To celebrate our first event and the progress we made together we will plant a tree for each participant. When I read any news around #netzero #decarbonization #ESG or #climatechange, I wonder if the drivers are perceived with the same importance around the globe. Preserving our planet resources and making it a better place not only for us but for our children and next generations sometimes seems to be not the priority for everyone. I hope that a similar approach as the one this study reflects is also shown in northamerica (in particular in Mexico but hopefully becomes a priority in USA). Balancing profitability with sustainability is a formula we all need.
