The tri-fecta of digital scaling, advanced packaging, and interconnect evolution - will enable the AI era. Test challenges this poses due to multi-physics, (i.e. electrical, optical, mechanical, and thermal) and multi-signal (digital, high frequency and high bandwidth RF, and, photonics); on an increasingly complex heterogenous integration package is far from trivial. On a lighter note, it was fun to translate for the audience the compute leap into #AlphaGoZero from #Alphago , the unit #petaflopday; and then contrast the impact of machine data with sentient data (#Deepblue), and what this means for semiconductor industry, and in particular for semiconductor test. Realizing the potential of machine data vs sentient data could usher in the renaissance in semiconductors which Rani Borkar (#Microsoft) allude’s to, or optics everywhere vision that Noam Mizrahi (#Marvell) spoke of. It’s business impact could also partially address the historical underestimations of technology leaps that Tien Wu (#ASE), and, Jung-Bae Lee (#Samsung) referred to at the CEO forum at #Semicon Taiwan. Thank you Semicon Taiwan for the opportunity to present #Teradyne’s vision for Semiconductor test in the AI era. Great panel too! I also learnt from the talks by Ting-Pu Tai (#TSMC), Chien-mo Li (#NTU), Hein Mun Lam (#Qualcom), and other speakers.
